Laptop with an eGPU

Has anyone tried to use one of those mining rig extenders (like https://www.amazon.co.uk/Marktol-Powered-Enhanced-Extender-Pin-4Pin/dp/B072X7PBY3/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8) with a laptop to add an external GPU card for rendering in DAZ?

I have a i7-7700HQ laptop with 4GB 1050Ti but for scenes with three or more G8 characters, it falls back to CPU rendering. Do you think it will be possible to add a 1080Ti with that device and use it for rendering. USB bandwith will be insufficient for gaming, but *should* be enough for rendering?

    I would test out on cheap card first. You would also need a regular powersupply that is modded to turn on without pc. Looks like a cheap solution if you can get it to work.
