Something weird is happening for me. I shut down Daz Studio and restarted it. I loaded Owen 8 in an empty scene again. Now the Arms have normal maps in the bump channel and no map in the Normal channel. I don't think I saw that before, but I'm not sure anymore.  Now the dual lobe specular reflectivity map gamma is correctly set to 1. I am running DS 4.10.0.123, the latest release.

@nemesis10, do you see normal maps in the Arms bump channel?

Edit: And if I load the Owen 8 and then apply Owen 8 All Maps (Iray Materials file) the correct bump file is used in the Base Bump channel and the normal map is in the Normal Map channel.

Sorry, working on making my first batch of beef bone broth.... I have both the correct dual lobe settings and a normal map for just loading Owen who was install via DazConnect in the Pro pack...

Thanks, I'll continue to investigate to see if I can figure out what is going on with my setup.

Interestingly if I load Owen by clicking his character icon in the content library, he loads with the arm normal maps in the bump channel and no bump maps for his arms. But if I apply the texture to a default g8m it's correct.

And I manually installed the pro bundle, and I don't use smart content or connect.

I installed Owen 8 with Daz Connect, too. I bought only the base product, not either bundle. How about you? I wonder if that makes any difference.

It shouldn't. However, try loading a copy of Genesis from the devkit folder then apply the texture then render.

That is exactly what happens for me, too. Thanks for confirming that it is not just my installation that screws up.

Applying the texture map works correctly. Loading the "Actor" figure loads with incorrect maps for Arms and Fingernails.

Maybe the actor preset was saved funny?

Quite possible, and was never caught in QA.

Owen and other male characters don't get nearly as much love in the forums as Sakura and female characters. It makes me sad. A new texture for Owen came out recently. Has anyone picked it up and used it yet? I think it's the same one that was advertised in this thread that was supposed to have been released in the pro bundle. I'd like to see what others have done with it and show some support in the threads for Owen. He's cute.

The Michael & Friends used to get a lot of posts but it has really slowed down. In that thread, the best posts now are coming from Male3Media showing his Blender Renders & Marvelous Designer clothing.

SereneNight has a lot of posts in the Art Zone thread but not a big character variety because she is doing a serial.

mal3Imagery is the Blender and MD fellow for anyone looking.

Oh, the other guy must be the fellow that does the PA products in the DAZ Store from time to time. Thanks

I wrote a help request about this two weeks ago, and it was reported to the bug tracker. So far no word on any fix.

What background is that by the way? It looks like a backdrop from a professional photo studio. :)

I'm not sure which one you're referring to, but I bought DarwinsMishap(s)' Stryker for Owen 8. I'm working with him right now. I posted an image of him in my WIP thread, if you're interested. And at the moment, I'm tinkering with the materials, turning him into an albino! I'll be posting a wip image of that soon.

    It's this:https://www.daz3d.com/boss-pro-light-set-for-portraits-promos

I probably use these lights more than any others that I've got other than regular HDRIs. They are extremely well done, as are all of ThePhilosopher's things ;).

    Cool! Thank you, Laurie! :)

  • Sakura's thread definitely took off.

I wasn't sure about him when he came out, but I am really liking Owen as a base for tweaking, and am really glad I ended up getting him.

I did get Stryker too, but haven't rendered anything with him yet.

This started with the base Owen, with some tweaking to buff him up a bit, age his face, and adjust the skin tone a tiny bit. (click for full view)
