Normally, when I spend any amount of time on a forum, my thoughts go pretty quickly to coming up with an appropriate avatar for that forum (usually from some game, movie, or other media source), and indeed have a number of different avatars scattered across the internet.

Here though, ever since my first post, yeah every time I see that big red smilie face with the black eyes that the Daz forum software assigned to me, I simply smile and am happy with it.  Yeah it's pretty understated, but it seems to express my happiness to be here, my willingness to help others when I can, and my desire to learn new things.

I do like other people's 'custom' avatars, and admire their choices, but I just don't feel the need for a more fancy one here, as the one I have now does the job just fine!!!

Does anyone else here have this sort of relationship with their 'default' Daz forum avatar?

Yes I agree your is quite nice.

Mine is a Branding icon for media recognition .  I use my Ivy Icon across all public domains and social sites so people who run into me across those sites know its me

Thank you very much, it ws something simple. I actually got the idea from daz's and how they use a media Icon.

Mine, when I don't assign an avatar is a pastel red, yellow, & black beany propeller-head with a bored (I think) expression. Look at my post count, I think they are right.

Hmmm Weird. Mine isn't a smiley face, it's some random image I uploaded to some website years ago (it's been following me around since, and I don't know how to get rid of it).

Yeah, I know, I did. Like I said, it's some random image I used as an avatar on some website years ago and not a smiley face. :( If I had known that that site/image would be following me around the internet for years and be used as my default image on forums and stuff I would never have uploaded it. :(

Wow, you uncovered a bug in forum SW because it definately shouldn't do that. Never heard of that health education organization though I like the ideal of it.

Maybe the OP has an default icon that has been superceded by the new defult icons being used now.

Same, mine is an icon I used many years ago on a different website. It's crazy and I don't know how to change it. :(

Because that is an avatar the OP made not an assigned one. I thought something looked off about it. Also notice the background color for the OP's avatar is the alpha channel.

Yeah, that's what I am questioning. They definitely said they didn't change it, that it was assigned. I'm not doubting them, I am wondering if Daz has changed the avatars.

Not sure but I just did an image search for these 3 attached avatars in Google image search and I'm pretty confident that avatar image wasn't assigned by DAZ forum SW from its defaults.

Also it seems the plex.tv forums use the same forum SW as DAZ 3D.

Google Images Search 'Visually Similar Images for the 'mad face'

Notice the the OP's avatar isn't in the list of forum avatars and also that is an alpha channel background and the circle is bigger than the others. That is not likely that those forum designers that created those avatars would change the size suddenly for just that one avatar.

    Conspiracy theories! This thread rules.

Not quite as happy as those smiley faces yet... since facial expressions complicate my idea by a large magnitude, but I made a 4 layer avatar builder system for my website using some of the gen3 cast... Choose a char, hair, clothes, and facial hair or makeup... About 250k combinations possible so far.

For this crowd, it might be more of a fun tool to try out char ideas without having to wait for all that rendering... :)

Can't post the link though since Daz has a problem with websites dealing with procreation... so if anyone wants to play with it, send me a direct message for the link.

I used to have a nice Millennium Cat avatar I had rendered, but in one of DAZ's many forum changes it got lost and I got this one. I really don't like it and should change it. If only I weren't so lazy, lol.

edit: my avatar looks like a moldy tomato. Blah...
