WOW ... I need a system that I can use nvidia card... 1080 or something. Right now its CPU only rendering, and its just not cutting it.
But video cards are very expensive right now .. Systems, thusly, very expensive. I've been pricing stuff for awhile, and right now having difficulty getting much under $2k
1070/1070ti and up are big bucks. 16gig ram is 200+
decent CPU ... 300-600. then a case, hard drive, SSD, etc etc ...

This should do well for under 2K with free shipping

    ...suggestions:

GPU:  Move down to a 1070 Ti as it also has 8 GB and 2,432 cores,  the 1080 has 2,560 not that much of a difference.

PSU: Select the free upgrade to the 600 W PSU

SSD:  Select the free pgrade to the 250 GB Western Digital SSD

OS:  Move up to W10 Pro (allows more control over your system than Home Edition)

    Total cost 1,889$

Heh... wouldja believe I've been making content on a 7 year old computer with a GTX 960? Finally saved up enough to get a new one in a few weeks...

Wow, that means you are really patient.

  • My old XP system could do everything I needed it to do for about 5 years. Then I built one for my brother so he could do his artwork (his was older and crappier). Once I had it all together and got used to how much faster everything was, I built an identical one for myself LOL

i7-4770K, 16GB Ram, 2TB HDD, and a GTX 780 was about $1500 total (back in 2014). Doubled the ram and upgraded to two 780ti about a year later, and gave him my regular 780. This was before Iray, so we only needed CUDA cores for gaming.

Now I'm up to a 1080ti and Titan Pascal, still with the same CPU and 32GB of RAM. It does what I need it to do.

  • HP has some Omen gaming desktops with the 1070 or 1080 that are pretty nice, some with Intel and others AMD cpus. With the Ryzen 2 launching in a month, expect the prices to come down on earlier but still totally awesome Ryzen boxes.

I have a i7 4790 and 16gig ram. where my system fails is onboard graphics ... the case is too small to put a regualr video card ... i could do a 1050ti but the price is much higher than it was a few months ago, plus I need a new power supply. Dell box by the way. Much is proprietary in there.

Once Intel finishes integrating AMD GPU directly on chip with intel CPUs, DAZ Studio needs to have AMD ProRenderer integrated into DAZ Studio.

It would be a good idea imo.

...I could dust off those HD 7950s I have in a box somewhere.
