Pretty Base NG8...er, details please.

Firstly let me say this is no way a slight on the Pretty Base character (which I don't have...yet) or the PAs who released it.

However, the advertising states: "Pretty Base Next Generation 8 is a special character which has been prepared for Genesis 8 Female. She has very realistic details and a wonderful face."

I'd like to ask, what is "special" about the character? I'm not being negative, I just want to know. This issue is about advertising rather than the character. If you make a statement like "..she is a special character.." please explain in what way she is special. So, in what way is Pretty Base NG8 different than all the other Genesis 8 characters?

"She has very realistic details...." What details are you referring to?

This is a genuine plea for information, not a gripe about the character. Please include actual information in the advertising not just empty phrases.

To the PAs I would say; congratulations on your new character, I hope she does well for you, but please insist that DAZ3d put some detailed information in the advertising to give us a reason for buying the product.

  • She's special because she's Pretty3D's flagship character that goes all the way back to Victoria 3. Realistic she is not, but she definitely is pretty.

  • Moved to the Commons as it isn't a product Suggestion.

Bought her as soon as I saw her.

She looks great, she's a classic character that's been around for over a decade.

The "Special" part is basically that she's right in the sweet spot between stylized and realistic, not so toony that she can't be used in a realistic setting, but just stylized enough that with a few tweaks she can work in many styles.

If you like how she looks, buy her, if not then pass on her. I found the G3 version to be a great model and ended up using her a lot, this will be the one that get's me using G8 more probably (until Girl8 comes out then it'll be nothign but toons for a month! lol).

(FYI I have not detected the seam issue or any rotation issues for those who remember what I'm talking about...)

    Great job Mytilus and Pretty3D!

(note: everything shows up in DIM but so far the hair isn't showing up as downloadable in my smart content)

She’s a stylized character the pa uses frequently in their store to advertise their work. I don’t see anything particularly realistic about her. Her eyebrows bother me as they seem to make her face perpetually  frown. She seems popular though. Just not my cuppa tea.

The hair shows up in smart content in the materials section but not the Hair section, fyi.

... but she definitely is pretty.

This, I'd say, is utterly in the eye of the beholder. devil

Are there any differences between the G3F and G8F version? Does anyone know which is better, not counting the G8F base improvements? I'm trying to decide which to get.

I don't really see her as grumpy looking. She tends to remind me of the vintage or Silkstone Barbie dolls with the slightly slanted eyes.

Her face is a bit stylized for realism (but probably mixes well) but I think Pretty Base, throughout all the generations has always has the BEST body of any character. I have the G3 and V4 versions  but will probably get this too if I just want to do a quick dial-in on G8 of what is to me, the ideal female body...

    Better?

Which do you prefer? If you want to discount base improvements, then it is down to what you like; noone else can tell you what you like.
