DAZ Dresses are too short!

Come on, how many women, real women at the mall do you see wearing dresses as short as the ones available here at Daz? Some dresses do have a morph for length but that is the exception rather than the rule. I find most of the dresses offered here unrealistic and I know my wife would never wear most of them.

I live in LA so it's perfectly normal here!
Im in Gainesville which is a big college town and the amount of girls i see with their ass hanging out of their clothes blows my mind lol
You can make them longer yourself with Hex normally easily enough. But just because they aren't long enough for some doesn't mean they aren't just right for others, or even too long. Something to think about.
There are some specificially long dresses out there to pick from though.
I suspect that there may be many male DAZ users who actually like seeing and rendering pretty girls in short skirts. Maybe that's why there are so many in the store. Just a guess though....
Not many...

I hear ya, a long while back I decided to stop spending money on clothes, until I was able to save up for MD instead. Now no matter what I need, I can probably just make it myself.
I agree. I've looked at every disgusting DAZ promo page. Twice.
I only buy short dresses, for my characters (and myself,) I have no need for longer ones unless it's for a period piece, so to each his/her own, I guess...
Personally I much prefer them to the endless daily parade of dragon-monster-zombies.
Oh how i wish that were the case lol. Yes the majority seem to be mid 20s but there are ALOT that are def 30+ wearing clothes that just blow my mind lol. Its either too short shorts/dresses or pants so tight that you can see their. well. you know. Not pretty sight lol
I've gotten a good laugh at the responses, but in truth, I agree. There are so many really nice dresses in every way except for the length. I readily agree that the short skirts need to be available, and I even understand why PAs usually create dresses so short, (bottom line, they sell!) But I have frequently wished this dress or that came with length options. My personal preference would be how OOT and the3Dwizard have both created a single jeans object with length options. Those products use material zones to hide unwanted lengths and add in edging details for the shorter lengths.
Length morphs are better than nothing, but they stretch the UVs, distorting the textures when you make the skirt longer, or squishing them, if you make the skirt shorter.
Anyway, that's my 2¢ on the subject.
LOL. All the darn skimp wear in the DAZ Store needs to be taken down entirely...and put in my runtime for safe keeping.
I don't know, I think that's ageism. I'm over 30 and still wear short skirts and skinny pants... Everyone I know does. No need to look like a grandma just because you're over 30! If you stay healthy and in shape you can look like you're in you're 20's/30's till you're quite old! And no need to have short hair either like in olden times, you can have long hair and look hot way past 30! Look at Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Aniston, well into their 50's!
Same here!! I ususally end up using D-Formers to make dresses and skirts even shorter. Of course I'm a Dirty Old Man!!!!!!!!
Oh i completely agree, i mean i am 35 and dress younger then my daughter cause she is boring for a 19 yr old :P For me though, there is a total difference between short skirts/skinny pants and clothing so obscene it shouldnt be worn in public lol. I see some pretty bad stuff idk if its because of the town im in, because its Florida, I mean i worked in a goth/fetish club for a few years before i moved out of San Diego and some of these outfits i see are not so dissimilar, minus the buckles and chains of coures XD
Well, here in Germany most women over 30 wear - *gasp* - pants mostly. Modern times, ey?
Yup, living in LA, I've seen everything. I don't even notice it anymore unless, dare I say, it, the person doesn't actually fit into the clothes. But as long as they fit, and cover parts you may not want to see, I don't care if they're 20 or 90 LOL! I've seen a lot of older women who eat healthy, work out, still look amazing and can wear the clothes of a 20 year-old. Good for them!
Doing skirts that are around knee-length is, I believe, tricky - which is why the Frivolous Forties outfit had a shorter skirt than was entirely period-appropriate, according to the maker. We may hope that dForce will make it simpler to make medium length skirts.
There are regional differences to clothing. I also suspect what is popular in some areas among some wearers is really not the majority of what people wear just what people tend to notice because they are visually memorable
I can’t say in la I noticed everyone wearing Daz short dresses some do some don’t. In my area dresses in general are uncommon due to the colder climate which is pacific north west temperatures.
In the interests of science, and of wasting even more time, I urge all concerned parties to assess the DAZ store three ways.
Method 1. Search for "Dress" - then show all in "Everyday"
Method 2. Search for "Skirt" - then show all in "Everyday"
Method 3. Go to https://www.daz3d.com/clothing-and-accessories-everyday and filter by G2F, G3F & G8F (even V4, if you like)
"Everyday" is suggested as the closest match to "at the mall". But really, you can just "show all". Uncheck "Hide Items I Own" to remove previous sample bias.
Now then, you might be surprised at the ratio of short - medium - long that's really there compared to what is, er, speculated to be there.
Also there's a big difference between sleazy and fashion.... Like when Ally McBeal was on, everyone was wearing those miniskirts with jackets to work, which is fine, but then there's street walker sleaze which is another thing altogether...
In any case, I would like to see more period clothes at Daz, specific to different eras and hair to match and even characters with makeup appropriate to those eras...
In LA, girls are more likely to dress in the short dresses at parties or clubs, not just walking the streets. Although short shorts are very popular for daytime errands.
club and party wear would seem more special occasion wear to me than an example of what women frequently wear
The old dynamic clothes also had some dresses and skirts that had long options as well so you could search the store for dynamic to find some clothes that fit what you're looking for. Hopefully we'll see more varied dForce products as the PAs get up to speed on creating for it and the products work their way through the QA/release process.
Checking for G3 and G8, first page, not counting skirt/leggings outfits which are just confusing:
Short (well above knee) - 20
Medium/Long (around knee or below) - 7 (two of which have slits all the way to the waist)
Hmmmmmmmm.
