Best software to create a face from photos to use in Daz Studio

Hi all!

I was wondering: what is the best software to create a face based on photos for genesis 3. I know of a tool called Facegen, but are there others? If so, which one works best?

Thanks a lot,

  • There's HeadShop One-Click. Admittedly, I haven't used it in a long time, mostly because I like FaceGen infinitely more. When I last used HeadShop, it only generated textures for the face, so you'd be left dealing with adjusting other textures for the torso, legs, arms, etc. Maybe it's a lot better now, but I haven't tested it recently.

  • Thanks for the reply! Can you also choose to ignore the texture or swap it out later?

Yes, you can always edit/ignore/swap textures and just use the morph. (Note that for textures, it's only the diffuse map, so no bump/spec/etc.) But without the textures, unless the person's features are very distinct, the morphs themselves may not be detailed enough to be recognizable without the textures. For example, FG doesn't really handle things like nose bumps...

  • I see... Thanks. Does Headshop do a better job if you don't take the textures?

I think facegen works great IF you have really good reference images for front and side
