I don't think Owen is a bad character or set, but I was really dissapointed with him at first site. Happy to see Charlotte has a mate, and we need more modern clothes and options for male figures in general. But nothing about him really spoke to me or my needs. Back when Elijah first came out I felt the same way about him. I didn't like the emmo look of his character texture and the hair. But a month after he was out and the sale prices were over I wished I had bought him. I don't want to be too hasty to dismis Owen, pluss now I can pick up the Elijah bundle for free.

I think the onyx outfit and grunge can be mix and matched with other items for a scifi look, something I always need. Also, I'm really glad to finally have something with 0 fantasy outfits in it. I'm on the fence with Owen. I loved Michael, Lucas, and Darius 8 bundles and picked them all up {but for Lucas I wasn't able until the free additional bundles were no longer offered. :( } Owen seems like a slightly older hipster version of lucas. with my discount 5 pro bundles averages to  $9 each... I just can't seem to make up my mind for sure.

At any rate, in 2 weeks I'm really wanting the next bundle to be another guy. More male bundles! I usually get the guy bundles and buy the female bases since so little in the bundles for females is anything I'd use. I want either a male counter part for Sakura or Leo 8 for Olympia. But not holding my breath for either.

If anyone bought the street style outfit texture expansions texture expansions1 and texture expasnsion 2 and installed it via dim, can you see if it shows up in the folder with the other textures? I go directly to the genesis 8 male>Clothing folder to find it and use it. Dim shows these packages are there, but I can't see them for some reason when I go into the materials folder or the subfolders it is supposed to have created.  I appreciate it.

There's a pathing error for Street Style. When I installed via DIM, it wound up at the same level as the Characters, Clothing and Poses folders. You have to move the folder into place and merge the folder outside the Clothing folder with the one inside it. (I should imagine that Smart Content may be deeply distressed, since there's likely a mismatch between what the metadata says and what's actually happening.)

I really INTENSELY wish that Daz would develop a metadata category or type tag or SOMETHING that tells you which items are diffuse overlay and which are regular materials. I kept double clicking his tattoo materials and being confused about why they weren't applying. And then suddenly, it occurred to me that they might be doing the same thing with those that they're doing with makeups these days. And they were. Which is fine. IF THERE WAS JUST SOME WAY TO KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. Theres' no indicator in the Content Library. There's nothing on the product page. NOTHING. ANYWHERE.

This is complicated by the fact that the 3Delight materials transparently are NOT diffuse overlay, because 3Delight doesn't have that ability.

Seriously, something where you can look at the materials in the Content Library, and/or (preferably "and") look at something on the product information page, and see "Iray tattoos and makeups are diffuse overlay materials." This does not seem unreasonable.

Okay, apparently, I haven't been clued in. How the heck do you get the tattoos to show up?

By rendering. Diffuse Overlay textures don't show in the workspace. You can't see them until you render. (See also: all of the Daz main Gen8 female makeups to date.)

I But I hope the next character theme is Atomic Blonde (Charlize Theron 8) and James Bond (Daniel Craig 8) or at least give us a bloody Superhero theme character bundles. I'm still waithing for dforce capes and cloaks. Bring me Chris Hemworth 8!

O.M.G... I'd pay full price for that bundle, especially if it included his costumes for Thor, Ghostbusters, and Star Trek. (New one coming out, apparently, where he reprises his role as George Kirk. Hopefully a lot more screen time than in the first.)  A girl can dream.

Me too, not the guy but charlize Therone. Insta-buy, she's a babe to be sure, especially in the movie "Devils Advocate." That is until the devil (pacino) told her to cut her hair, which was the point to ruin her look.

Re Devil's Advocate: The nasty ginger (Connie Nielsen) had short hair too (as did the Asian babe in the elevator). Maybe it's androgyny that the devil was going for. And I can't remember a dedicated blonde Daz core character. Long overdue.

If you're on the fence about getting Owen, you can save another 10% by buying a Gift Card with today's offer. Of course, that's only a good move if you actually want two of today's new releases. (And you get an additional 10% off those qualifying products, too!)

The pants and shoes in the new Street Style outfit are really well done! Love the way they look especially with an untucked top!

One more, then I need to go get some stuff done. Here's FW Kaspar under the same light set, but I had to add more lights and really pump up the intensity of everything, then lower the exposure just to get his skin to show up right. It's really dark in the viewport, weirdly so. FW does some great characters, I have many of them, but the skin settings on this one seem odd to me. Might need some tweaking. Right now Kaspar's skin seems like a black hole for light. I have darker skinned characters that I don't have to throw this much light at.

Kaspar's morphs look good, and with the Micah Hair from the M6 Pro bundle, he could pass for M6's brother.

    Straight render, no post.

    Some great renders so far!

I'm happy Owen 8 was released this week. I thought it was going to be a male anime character to join Sakura 8. He's a great character, but I'm surprised that he is so similar to Lucas 8 though. I didn't think we would see such similar guys released one after the other. Still though, a nice addition to the gene pool!

I have to say, I kinda like Owen. I'm guessing he's probably Charlotte's companion character from the look of things (especially since he's got the "beta male" vibe going, for lack of a better term).

The more appropriate term is "hipster" male. While nothing inherently wrong with being beta, association with it in regards to liberal millennial males is used derogatorily to imply weakness.

But yes, either he's clearly Charlotte's counterpart. :)

Well, it was either that or an even more derogatory term involving a food product, lmao.

But yeah, 'hipster' would probably be the more appropriate description for Owen. He just needs a lumberjack beard, thick rimmed glasses, and a flannel shirt.

Oh, you mean something akin to this? ;)

I only have a 15% off banner which is weird because I have most of the G3M bundles. I was planning on skipping this anyway, but the 30% off might have swayed me...

Do u have Elijah 7? My guess it is 15% off for owning him, and 15% off for any of the other 7 bundles

I've been gently rebuked on another thread for calling the clothing in Owen's Pro Bundle "relentlessly ugly." That was meant to express my dislike for the type of fashions they chose to include in the bundle, rather than a slam at the PAs' competence. The clothing looks reasonably well-made, and is authentic to what a certain type of twenty-something is wearing nowadays. I apologize for expressing myself in a way that did not convey that properly, and for including the hair, which looks well-made, just not suited to this character, in my comments.

The PAs are pretty much obliged to make things they think will sell to the general public or that Daz will buy, and I intend no criticism of their work on the items as items. But it was Daz's decision to include those items in a pro bundle, and Daz is not getting $66 of my money for anything I personally find as visually off-putting as that type of grunge and that type of goth.

I've been complaining about the pro bundles being full of fantasy and scifi clothing for some time, and I know I'm not alone. At least I can kitbash and retexture or use shaders to get something somewhat contemporary. So I look beyond the Goth of those outfits, 'cause I'm not into Goth, either. On a very positive note. All three of the shoes that lace up have bows, instead of just ending at the top of the shoe. Kudos for that. Osher Hair? A bit messy, but I can work with that. Matthew Hair? I sure wish it had a morph to make that top hair shorter... I'm getting the Pro bundle because it's cheaper than buying the products I do want separately. Not everything in the bundle is something I'd buy otherwise. On the other hand, I have a number of Daz  "base figures" for several generations that I bought just the figure, or a starter bundle, because the products in the bundle didn't appeal to me.

    Viva la personal preference!

lol Too funny. But, as a fan of Butch's yummy characters, I'm not complaining. heheh

Oh poppycock!!  I've only got limited underwear and the boys have to share them - I just change the colour/pattern in photoshop cheeky      I have to remind the boys to put them in the wash occasionally, though.
