and not under the 'PEOPLE' tabs.  Just general prop.  I spent a few minutes scratching my head trying to find them in the clothing sub folders of people tab.

  • Yeah, they are not fit to any specific figure, so they can be used on anyone. They are all rigged to bend around a posed figure, but not rigged as clothing would be following a skeleton's movement, so they are props. Glad you found them.

I have purchased a few dForce items...but only a couple work to my satisfaction. My question is....can these take a soft breeze or wind without exploding? The maker has a good pedigree...so I am optimistic.

Generally it depends on settings because if the mesh intersects it's going to explode regardless. That said, turning the wind down about .5MPH and i have some breeze plowing under the poncho.

Thank you...I'll give it a try.

  • Thanks for stepping in MM3.

We have had best results by turning Start From Memorized Pose to OFF, and using the bones and pose controls in the ponchos to fit around the posed figure. Just be sure to not have any intersections with the posed figure before you hit the simulate button and everything should be OK. We did test out wind settings, and playing around with all the other settings in the surfaces tab, and it all worked. There are also material zones around the outside trim and collar if you need to tweak those settings to be more stiff. Good luck and shout if you have issues.

I'm having a great deal of fun with this, thank you!

One thing I might mention for users -- when I bring the element into the scene the auto-fit dialog comes up. I hit cancel then all your morphs and rigging works perfectly.

19th century French academic paintings have always served as an inspiration for my pieces.  Your ponchos and robes serve as pefect "classical drapery" for this purpose.

    Thanks again!

OOOooh, nice pic Pizmo! Great use of retexturing with shaders too. But that is really weird that the auto-fit dialog pops up because it shouldn't be doing that. Were you fitting the poncho prop to your figure, or do you maybe have some setting in DS selected to always auto fit? Has anyone else noticed this as well? I'm going to check on that. Thanks for the heads up.

Edit: figured it out, yes if you drag the item from the content library to the figure in the veiwport, the auto fit dialog does come up. I always just double click the item in the content library, so I've never noticed the auto fit dialog. Just hit cancel when/if it comes up. As pointed out in the OP, these are saved as props, and not wearables, so they will work equally well with any figure. cheers!

I must have some setting incorrect.  If I select my G8 figure, your item will show up under props in smart content. I will then deselect my figure and even then auto-fit will come up, I have no idea. Absolutely a non-issue. I love these props, I've been wanting something like this for a while. ...and I don't know why we have a drug problem in this country, playing with shaders are my crack.

    Hey there,

I thought this Poncho-Set is so nice and i want it for a project. But i can't fit it to my Genesis 8 Male. If I doubleclick it, it is just a plane on the Floor. If I use auto-fit, it looked so weird. The pose isn't that easy, so i don't want to bend it all. Did i miss something? It is my first IDG cloth and I have no clue, how to use it.

(I use DAZ Studio 4.10 Pro)

Edit: Sorry for being that stupid. Now i find this tutorial and everything works fine.

    Nice work!

  • Hello!

I'm having simialr problems to those above... Ponchos try and load via "auto fit" then just appear as flat materials on the floor... I'm looking around to try and figure out what's going on, but any quick tips for how to just get the prop on the figure would be greatly received. Thanks!
