D|S is All, Like, Awesome and Stuff
I'm always amazed at the stuff that D|S produces with very little effort. And even though I use a bunch of other software to do stuff, which is arguably more "mainstream, professional", it's guaranteed that I'll get lost and confused in those apps and forget how to do stuff. But as soon as I jump back to D|S, the interface is clear and understandable and it just makes sense.
So I decided my character needs a diamond ring. I jump into Blender, and very quickly I have a mesh, and its UV tools are really very nice. So I just export the base, untextured mesh into D|S, and drag 'n drop some included iray materials, and suddenly I have a very nice looking ring. Those included iray materials in D|S are really very nice.
Anyway, D|S makes it easy for a (very) untalented person like me to produce something that looks pretty nice, IMO, with not a lot of effort.

You are not giving yourself due credit. Most here can't model a diamond ring, or would even want to as they want everfything to be one click done before rendering. Which does say a lot about DS and it's abilities that so many can just click away and produce great looking images.
DS was my blender for a long time as I came from years of poser use to DS after trying to understand the UI many, many times until it clicked. I now find the Poser UI clumsy and lacking in the tools I have become used to in DS.
You think the built in Iray shaders are nice, check out the Mec3d ones in the store. Nice ring and I like the skin on your figure, what character is it?
