+1!
Those have got to be the most uncomfortable and ridiculous **** things I've ever seen ;) Are they intended for torture? LOL

BTW, even Barbarella did not wear high heels in space (AFAIK).........so a spacesuit can be sexy without high heels......but hey those were the good old days, right.
Greets, ArtisanS
2 to 3 inch heels is all I see in pictures of Barbarella
For me, there's a difference between mere high heels (like the latest Wonder Woman costume, or the Stealth Siren heels) and spike heels. High heels, of the 1-3" size, don't bother me as much provided that they're either wedges or suitably chunky. Believe it or not, this has always been the case, even though I've joined in on the anti high heel posts before. Heels over that hight do bother me a bit, because as a short person who is physically unable to wear heels over 4" (yes, my feet are that small) I can't imagine walking like that, but I'll conceed that as a me thing.
So Wedges and chunky heels on outdoorsy, actiony type clothing = Fine with me.
My problem has always been spike heels on armor or spacesuits. Again, I know it's possible to wear them outdoors or on uneven surfaces. I remember giving a handfull of girls an impromtu lesson on how to walk across the football field in heels for our graduation (we had a large class. It wouldn't fit in the auditorium.) I just don't see it as practical, and it tends to bother me most when the *rest* of the outfit is more practical than sexy, but it has these platform spike heel boots to glam it up. Those tiny heels are much more likely to catch in something and break, or possibly break a leg. They sink into soft ground unless your weight is mostly on your toes (and even then...) and it just seems dangerous, and specifically an unneccisary danger that someone who does this sort of stuff professionallly wouldn't take.
As to the "We're doing stuff in space or with dragons and that's where you find it unbelievable" ... well, yes. See, I probably won't have any experience with space. And the only dragons I've ever interacted with are either stuffed, pewter, or bearded. But I've worn heels. I've run in heels. I've spent the day walking around a convention center in heels, wearing a costume *exactly* like the sort of outfits I'm protesting here. So that I know. And so yes, that's what takes me out of the illusion.
Have you seen the latest Jurassic World movie? The heroine goes and lures the T Rex out of its cage to fight the genitically altered one and is wearing 3 inch heals as she is running in front of it. I laugh my butt off everytime I see this because if I am going to make a T Rex chase me, I am going to take those shoes off and run like I've never run before.
At least there's an agrument about it in the movie (though at that point, they're on the uneven, soft-ish ground). And she was running on pavement, which is - from experience - easier when it comes to heels. :)
And in the trailers for the new movie, she's wearing hiking boots with big, huge, chunky heels (not sure about the height, but they're at a practical level)
Pfft, don't you watch Iron Chef or any of those chef shows? Presentation is as important as the meal itself.
I have gotten so I don't even check out products that contain high heels, with the exception of them being semi believable. But they sell so are continually made.
This is true! I am sure that T Rex was quite happy at how his meal was presented to him lolol! One does eat with one's eyes first!
Probably at her insistance lol. I did love the movie, high heels and all.
Even Lynda Carter had to change to flats when she had to run as Wonder Woman. Go here to watch her run in glorious sloooooooow motion.
There was actually an interesting interview with her about the first movie and they asked her about the heels. It was her idea to kep her in those heels, because the way she saw her character the heels were part of her uniform and somehing she would have taken the effort to master, so the actress learned how to do (and actually did) all the running around in the heels herself.
Yeah and how did that movie do at the box office? not extremely well... yeah for other reasons mostly but...
Yeah the boots on fantasy/sci-fi clothing issue. It annoys the hell out of me. I see this great looking outfit that would fit for one of the characters i want to do a render of and then i look at the boots and they are either high heels, or they have open toes for some insane reason, who in their right mind wears open toed boots if they are foing to be fighting when they are not a spartan or something like that. But that is not the point of this thread heels are, I have the hardest time matching boots to outfits, mainly because i don't have many sets of practical boots yet.
My Fiance.
Me.. closest I have is a pair of 1 1/2 inch high wedge dress sandals, and 1 inch chunky healed slides.
Because the plot sucked. I promise you the existence of high heels is only loosely correlated with box office succcess.
Wow, I didn't even notice that. She sure does have heels though.
I always saw that as part of the character too. If she was male I figure she would have been in a suit similarly refusing to take off the jacket and tie even when the female costar pokes fun. It was a symbolic attempt to stay together and keep control while everything was falling apart.
The fights were amazing. Spectacular cinematography.
I used to disregard the high heels. I too can't stand them on the lady outfits. However, so many of these outfits are just flat out awesome. I either render without showing the heels/hiding them, or do some Photoshop work to give them a fuller look. Depends on what we're looking for in an image I suppose. High heels are no longer an issue for me. I regretted not having bought the outfits sooner. There's so much that can be done to hide heels. May or may not work, but I've been able to make it work.
I'm one of those people that buys this stuff. Love the heels. The higher, the better. :)
I'll chime in with a render.
