Ok, here's an example of what I'm talking about.

Exile is a fine product by Josh Crockett with HD detail at Subd4. _4_. HOLY POOT

I exported Exile as a Subd1 base and Subd4 HD.

I took Substance Painter and opened the base. I then, in baking textures, chose the Subd4 version, and baked Normals.

First image is how Exile normally looks at Subd4. Second is how it looks at Subd1. Third version is how it looks at Subd1 using the Normals I baked out.

There is a very very very very slight visible difference, mainly if you look carefully at the edge of the face.

But... for these kinds of details? You don't _need_ HD morphs.

Awesome example Oso.....The HD tool is a nice option, but there are many ways to get things done. The tool shold never inhibit ones creativity, there are always ways to get things done if you try.

Sometimes I try to sculpt at subd4 in zbrush just so I know I'm making certain muscle groups and stuff look right (I understand the base won't keep all the details) , but when I change it back to base resolution some things will look different, especially the traps area depending on how stylalised it is.

  • Because there are certain steps that need to be done and can cause issues, it's not in the willd for the very reason people are complaining.

Not even a little. DAZ releases broken tools all the time and HD is not a "new thing" people can't grasp the idea of. This is a marketing decision.

Sounds like a lot of speculation here. It's still their call to make and bashing their software doesn't seem like a helpful solution.

Speculation from you. Honestly what makes more sense? DAZ is somehow not competent enough to allow hobbyists to create HD morphs or DAZ is deliberately restricting HD content to their store? We both know it isn't the first one. It's their choice to make but it needs to be recognized as a deliberate choice, not a limitation they have no control over.

I'm not bashing DAZ by pointing out they release broken tools, it's just a fact that their initial launches tend to be buggy; check out DForce for the most current example. I don't think this is a bad thing; I like that they are brave enough to go ahead with new ideas.

  • There is no point in people who do not know why Daz chooses not to distribute the HD Import plug-in more geernally discussing possible reasons, nor does trying to pesuade those who have no say in the matter achieve anything. Since the whole discussion is simply reiterating specualtions that have been given in every other thread on the topic it is being locked.
