How do you register Pegasus Modeler 3.0

Need some help here. I just purchased Pegasus Modeler 3.0 and have a serial number from my accounts page. It is in the form of:

xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx

When I enter it, I get a error:
"The name/key you entered does not appear to be valid. Please try again."

I do not have any spaces or the like at the beginning or end of the sn.

Anyone have any ideas?

Nope - I'm waiting for Daz helpcentre to come back on that one. I can't enter it either.

Check there isn't a readme or similar text file with a user name if not a serial number. It may seem odd, but in the past all of his applications have used a preset username, rather than your own name.

    Richard,

Here are the instructions from the product page:
    •Registration:
•You will be provided with a license key by DAZ in one of the forms below:
    •Name: UserName Key: 1111-111-1111-111
    •Serial Key: UserName 1111-111-1111-111
    •To Register:
•Click the Register button on the application reminder window.
•Enter UserName in the Name field (No spaces).
•Enter 1111-111-1111-111 in the Key field (use copy and paste—don’t try to type it).
•*Numbers here are only provided for illustration purposes

So it looks like you are to use "UserName", but that does not work.

I've tried UserName, my name, my DAZ name, my email address but nothing works.

The serial number is much longer than the one in the instructions.

To answer your other question, there are several .PDF and a couple of license.txt files but nothing that gives a user name.

Are you sure the serial number isn't the username followed by the serial number, using the pattern above to identify the part that's the serial the rest would be the username?

I'll PM you with it and see what you think.

I just checked mine, and the Username is userkeynameXXXX and then the long serial number, which is what I think Richard is referring to. I don't know if the 4-digit number at the end of userkeyname changes from person to person, or from one of his products to another.

That said, I'm using Pegasus 2.0. I doubt, however, that he'd change his method of Username/Serial number from one version to another.

I think that is the problem. Daz never sent an email with userkeyname anything.

I should have learned by now

If you go into your Account in the DAZ Store, there's a link for My Serial Numbers (or something similar). Any serial number you need for any software you've obtained from the DAZ Store will be listed there.

Thank you, but that is where the serial number that does not work comes from. Looks like you need a username and serial number combo to make the product work.

I'm so pissed off of paranoid vendors that even do not check the forum for problems and the daz system that always steals my time and causes problems.
Tried almost all possible combinations of first/last name and provided serial and nothing works.
Just thinking about to return the product and claim refund ...

The paying customer is always the idiot :-(

    OK, I have it resolved.

I emailed support at 3dutils.com and they were able to tell me the user key that went with my serial number. My hat is off to Mark over there, because he helped me get this resolved on a Friday night. That is GREAT service.

I'm a little miffed at DAZ for not supplying everything I needed to get the program to run. They only provided half.

Now I can play (after I get my taxes done).

Please tell me Daz will include more information?
I was thinking about getting this after payday but not liking the idea of chasing a vendor down to g et it running. Can't the vendor come post here and answer some questions?

I contacted Mark on Renderosity last night and he got back to me this morning asking for more details.

Daz hasn't replied to my ticket yet, but they should have sent an e-mail out with the usernamekey and the serial number.

Same problem here... Have emailed 3dutils.

And, I did the 3 pay deal for Carrera last fall. When I asked why there was no serial number for it in my serials.... they emailed one to me. There is still no Carrera number in there. So, this is not the only issue with serials. I sort of hate trying to find 'one email' with a serial on it 2, 3, or 5 years later when everything else is in one nice tidy place. Oh well. I guess that is what printers and file cabinets are for? :)

    Same problem here.
Have tried lots of combinations to no avail.
The 3dutils site has updated instructions
    http://www.3dutils.com/enter-key.htm
but it still assumes a "Name" was given with the key.
Serial number page on "My Account" only has a key.

email in to author and ticket in to Daz.

OK, as I said, I have version 2.0, and for it the Username and Serial Number are both listed in my account. I wish I could help with the version 3.0 Username, but for some reason the Username portion you needed isn't showing up for Pegasus 3.0.

That said, glad to hear you got it worked out. :-)

Sorry for any issue. I've contacted Daz by email and I attempted a phone call as well. I'm not sure when I'll hear back from them.

If you are missing the username part of the key please send what you have to me via email: support (at) 3dutils.com and I'll send you the part you're missing.

If you have the whole key please see: http://www.3dutils.com/enter-key.htm

    Thanks,
    Mark

I remember now why I did'nt use PM2 after I bought it was because of the lack of learning resources for the program, while there is basic tutorial videos, they are of low quility sound which just gives you a headache.

I hope with PM version 3 there is going to be more support in this area as I think if there was a lot more would purchase it, it does come with some good starting points such as shirt, bodysuit ect. but would be great to have a youtube channel or even video tutorial for using the product either free or sale.

    Steve.

    *EDIT*

Oh just noticed Mark has made a youtube channel, hope there will be more tutorials added soon... :)

I have the serial numbers for version 1 in my account, they worked fine for version 3 (I also used them for version 2).

I've had problems with this before I recall, because of the format of the username: "userkeyname123" (just used a random number here), where I thought I just had to enter the last 3 digits, but you have to enter the whole thing.

I am in the same boat as you are
no key send and I cannot open a software I paid for...
Its a shame of daz studio.

  • edited December 1969

Problem solved I mailed to daz studio and they changed the incorrect serial number:lol:
Thank you for this thread anyway because the solution was not obvious
    Happy day to all
