In your content directory, check Animation->Animate (see image at the last post of the previous page), it's there in various subfolders.

EDIT: Here are the folders that have the G8 animation blocks (blue mark):

Did you update G8 Starter Essentials?

  • I count 39 animation files that include g8f in the file name. I downloaded it Tuesday evening.

Well I would not actually call them new aniblocks pre say. (sigh) after looking them over they look like they are really the same old motions aniblocks as offerd for the other older generations i didn't see any new walk cycles or dance moves nothing new just the same ol same ol.   They look like they were updated work with genesis 8.   I was like Hot Dog new motions files.  . Bummer

Well since most Daz studio users have not used any of the older aniblock these will likely be "new"
for them. I am curious to see an actual walk cycle across a floor with a dress/gown at shin length
    with self collission
    with Dforce...any takers ??

Well, I just tried it using the default dForce outfit from the starter essentials.

It's been too long since I did any animating, I guess, because while everything loaded fine, the animation didn't run when I ran the simulation.  I could scrub through the walk just fine in either Animate or the Timeline, but G8 didn't move when I ran the simulation.

    Congrats !!!!laugh
Cararra Supports G1-2 natively I am told .
You now have access to a much more
realistic environment ,than DS, for your Character animation renders .
looking forward to seeing what you produce with your new tool.

aniMate2 takes over the timeline.  You probably want to right click in the aniMate2 area and choose Bake to DS Keyframes before you simulate.

Thanks.  I knew I needed to do that, I just couldn't remember how.

Any chance these animations will work with G3F? I have no G8 characters at all.

    The short answer is no.

From my quick test, the G8F aniblocks don't behave the same when applied to a G3F. There is a strange scaling down and up effect on a G3F figure. and even stranger sliding flying effect when you try a Genesis 1 or V4 figure. Obviously due to the different bone structures.

Maybe an animation coverter will help.

It would have been nicer if  the G8F aniblocks had been delivered in their own folder rather than thrown in with the older incompatible ones.  Altho I guess users can do that for themselves to make for an easier workflow.

    Edited to fix quote

As you say - they are now mixed in with all the older ones and there is no way of knowing which are G8 and which are previous generations.

marble, g8f is plainly included in the file name of each one. I had no problems picking them out.

Can I get a pointer to a step-by-step on this? I've never looked at aniblocks before.

Yes please! Is there a quick tutorial on how to do an animation with dForce? I've never done an animation before either, and then doing it with dForce is doubly new. lol

  • This will get you started and there are more DAZ tutorials on aniMate in that channel.

Nice! I'll check them out later when I get my sound working again. lol I might have to dig out my old ipad and watch it on there.

Thank you for the links to the videos. I'm sure that's going to help a lot! :)

Any tips on how to make dforce animate better? I tried following the advice of increasing the subframes but I'm not happy with the results. I get better animation if I do a frame-by-frame render (convert image series to movie). Doing it by individual frames allow the simulation to run better and let me enable smoothing/collision checks. Here's a really short clip of my failed test.

Ooops - so it is. I had the panel too narrow which meant the whole filename was not displayed. Sorry.

  • cool, thanks all,  you's do a great job as always.

Did you run the simulation with the hair on the figure?  If so try running the simulation again with the hair hidden in scene tab, once sim is finished you can make the hair visible again for rendering.

I have updated the essentials pack but the aniblocks I have look all like they are more or less broken so my guess is they are all for the older character. How do I know if the files are for g8 or not?

Look for g8f in each file name.

Or select the hair and set Visible in Simulation to Off - that way you don't have to keep showing and hiding it.
