Funeral Home / Parlor

Urgel Bourgie. I am looking all over for a 3D funeral home for a story. Something recent such as 1960 or 1970 or even sci fi near future. A place that not only has non denominational chapel, but a room for the family to visit the coffin that has the body in it. Maybe with a couch. A room upstairs where the offices are and washroom. The berievef off to the side up front near the casket separated from all the other attendies if any show up.

You don't need ghouls to make death scary. Seems in this day and age, people live alone and die alone in these cities. No family or family is estranged. Friends. But a dead body in the morgue of a hospital is a place to get lost. The hospital staff are not willing to let friends know their friend has died because they are not family. When one finally finds out a week later that discharged means yes he is dead, the staff aren't even sure of the where abouts of the body. Like it was shipped off somewhere else. A request for a go look see reveals that the body is still downstairs in the morgue. Great. They are looking for family. So you check Facebook and find some. Apparently hospital can't do that. If the guy had only sisters, even though estranged, hospital only wants same last name. Could the family contact them by phone? Family is in a country where language is too exotic. War torn. Poverty prevents phone at home. Is there an email address for the hospital? Not willing to give out information such as email. The friend not willing to have the police have name or number of friend because of bad experience from the police and hospitals. Escalation.

I’ve only seen a western funeral parlor and an autopsy room. Maybe someone else has seen something.

  • Thank you Serene. I do have those two P+ products which I will be using for another time and place. I've been itching to get TangoAlpha's Crime Lab Bundle which has more of the asthetic I am looking for for a hospital morgue and coroner's office. https://www.daz3d.com/crime-lab-bundle

I am just not coming up with the search words in any 3D site for mortician or funural director. Maybe somebody will see this and make one.

There are, however, rather a lot of chapels. Maybe something could be repurposed?

I mean, it's not like there aren't coffins that could be used. Just not all in one set.

  • Thanks Jodel. I'm not looking for a church that has a chapel. I am looking more for a non church chapel. You are right about repurpose. Could use FirstBastion's courtroom benches or the benches from Jack Tomalin's Sacrament. I have plenty of coffins. It's just something about the building itself. I may have to repurpose a few buildings and rooms to get what I am looking for.

For the exterior. all you need is something like one of Dreamland's victorian style homes and put a funeral home sign in the front lawn. This is what every funeral home I've even seen looks like from the outside, at least on the east coast, this is a funeral home to me: https://www.daz3d.com/single-home-03

  • I love his work and have some of Dreamland's items from the other site. I will have to keep looking though as that is not exactly big city lonely non connect with the neighbour in the apartment next door feel. Plus there has to be the possibility that one's mother's body is not in that casket but a mix up with some other old woman.
  • Lost one's mother in a funeral home? The plot thickens!

I guess the country where it is makes a difference as well.

  • That one looks humble Chohole. Reminds me to get a hearse as well.

South Wales Valleys.  Was where Himself (my soulmate) lay in rest before the funeral.  Is a fairly modern building,  the older building would have been stone built, as a lot of our houses are in the village.  My house was built before 1850.

Your house is almost as old as I am. ;) It must be nice to live in a small village where everyone knows everyone and connecting with each other. They probably came to his funeral. Here in the big city in North America, it is now 24 days since someone died and his body is still on ice in the morgue. His family in some war torn European country have been trying to get in touch with the powers that be here to no avail. Just today I found out that the police finally got off their donut keester and contacted the family. Maybe it's just me but I expect a body to go in the ground within days.

  • Hummm seems DAZ only has one hearse and it is horse drawn. https://www.daz3d.com/the-hearse ... nice though 3djoji. Two versions wood and the other black. Perfect for westerns and 1920 mobsters / prohibition / flapper pics.

There's a mid-century one at Rendo. But it's in 3DsMax  and Bryce format.
