Movie Maker only renders blank black scenes?

Why does Movie Maker only render totally black frames? I viewed tutorials and tried everything but get nothing but blank black output with any background. If I hide the background then the charactors render fine. Turn on background again and whole scene turns black.
Cannot find any discussions on this issue.

Are you rendering in Iray or 3Delight?
Tried Iray, 3Delight, OpenGL all same results.
Running on Windows 64, DAZ 4.9, everything is fine with 3Delight rendering. Be sure that you are not using iRay engine.
DAZ Studio has a 'headlight' that is usually set to turn on when no other lights are on in a scene. (3delight render setting).
Perhaps when the moviemaker stuff is hidden, the headlight is on - showing your figures/content, and when un-hidden, it turns off, leaving no other lights in the scene illuminating your content to any usable value? I know for certain some vendors put dummy lights in their scenes to disable the headlamp, and those do not emit light, so maybe look for something like that going on.
If so, maybe add a simple distant-light to your scene, and use 3Delight rendering, and see if that gives you any hints.
Another option is your camera may be behind something, or inside a primitive (box) when moviemaker is visible.
If so, try a different view, or move your active camera around and see if you can see anything at all...
