Duplicate Formulas
I saw that at one time there was a conflict between Zev's G8F 200 Face & Body morphs and Rarestone's G8F Head morph package that resulted in the dreaded popup warning..
So my question is; does a person really care if there's duplicate formulas, other than the annoying popup?
Thank you

Yes, if there really are duplicates then only one will be applied. This particular issue was fixed with an update to the Rarestone set.
Okay, thank you Richard. I was really asking generaly though, do we really care about duplicates since like you say, only one gets applied?
They arenb't necssaruily exact duplicates, withe the same values - just two links from property A to property B
You will if something doesn't work correctly (because the wrong scale factor is applied, for example).
So if the duplicates pop up is appearing, how do you track down exactly where the two copies are located? It seems to me that if DS can detect that there are duplicates then it should be able to tell us exactly where they are so we can quickly deal with the problem. I wonder why the DS programmers did not think it worth the effort to actually give us this information (which the system clearly has available).
The log file should help (it lists the item that triggered the duplicate warning, I think, not both). Note that it's not duplicate files - DS can cope with those - it's different files with the same proeprty link (or even duplication within one file, as can happen with doing two ERC Freezes).
I've had a few morph sets for G3 & G2 that have been known to throw up the duplicate formulas error but what about clothes? The Genesis Fantasy Wrap seems to be causing it whenever I autofit to G3. I save the scene but when I try to load it again I get the warning. Checking the log to see what went wrong where in the process is unenlightening, at least to me, and the only way I've been able to "fix" it is to remove the outfit. Which of course is not at all what I want to do. Thought I had a bad copy of the Fantasy Wrap so I uninstalled it and downloaded it again but the same thing happened. Any ideas why, or should I just give up on that particular combination?
AFAIK you can't fix the duplicate formula yourself. I guess you need to contact either the tech support or the PA to fix it. So, in short, if you get the message but it works anyway for what you have to do, you can ignore it and be happy with it. If it causes issues then you need to call to fix it.
EDIT: personally I only keep in the content folder what I need for the current project. Among other things, this also helps to avoid duplicate formulas in some extent.
Mr. Newton- Like Richard say's when you get that error popup, immediately go to Help > Troubleshooting > View Log Files on the tool bar. In that box now select Edit > Find, and enter duplicate. From those results, you'll be able to see the names of the products that aren't playing nice with each other.
Thanks for all the input guys!
So I have Archie and when I load him, I get a duplicate formulas error. He was installed through Connect. So should I submit a ticket then? He seems to work OK. There is also another figure that gives this error too. But I have to verify which one it is first.
Yes, though if you can work out which product it is conflicting with that will make it easier for support (and of course it may not be a Daz store product).
The logfile says:
2017-10-15 14:58:03.241 Loaded file: genesis 3 female.duf
2017-10-15 14:58:03.698 WARNING: libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile
This is pretty much useless information as it does not give any information about the location of the offending file(s).
So, is there any way to trace the location of the offending file(s)? DS must "know" the file location else it could not have found the error.
Search backwards from the end of the log file, after loading the figure, for duplicate and you should find the lines.
ITS a pain , I looked thru the log file , found fome offending files and thier location but then what? I tried to rename the file in the data folder but then I got a message saying missing file which is just as annoying
Renaming the file wouldn't help anyway - it's the content of two files conflicting that causes the issue (which would be why it doesn't get picked up in testing). Once you have identified the problem files, report them to Daz support (or the vendor if it's an item from another store) so that the issue can be fixed.
There were no other entries for that timepoint (or anywhere near it).
And yet you are getting the Duplicate Formulas error? I'm not sure how that could happen.
