Holes again? Really? PAs, please, reconsider!

There are two new outfits I really, really loved on first sight and wanted to buy on the spot- even with wrinkles! (Sky Jumper Outfit and X-Fashion Shadows Outfit) And then I discovered they have holes. Holes on midriff, holes on legs, holes on back. And nothing in the description says that these holes can be closed by applying texture. So, unusable in the real life of a harsh dystopian future, and I'm still not good enough in creating to meddle with the mesh myself. Please, PAs, It probabely would be easy for you to make the outfits so, that each and any gaping hole can be somehow closed (or opened), just to satisfy all kinds of buyers.
So, I didn't buy, sadly.

X-Fashion look like it has holes in the geometry so not much to do there, but the hole on the back of the Sky Jumper might be a transparency map being used, not sure, you could always buy it and see, you can always get your money back if you are not happy, but yes sometimes there are lots of silly holes in cloth that does not make much sense, I agree with you there.
Since this is a perennial subject and the PAs keep making the holes, I think it's fair to conclude that they're going to carry on. I guess sales lost to non-hole fans are exceeded by sales to hole fans (or assumed to be).
Perhaps a body suit underneath? :)
You can use a Geometry Shell to create a "second skin," and apply any sort of shader you'd like. Select the figure, (not the clothing,) and from the main menu, click on Create->New Geometry Shell. You can toggle visibility on/off by either Surfaces, (arms, legs, torso, etc.) or Face Groups (Abdomen, AbdomenUpper, lFoot, lForearm, etc.), in the Parameters Tab under Shell->Visibility. It's a workaround, but it could make these items, and other items like them, work for your needs.
That was my first thought, but I think a geoshell would work better, and not cost anything.
If either of these outfits were menswear, the holes would cover the entire figure and the outfits wouldn't even exist.
Now, where do they hide the "sarcastic" smiley?
I've skipped quite a few items I'd bought otherwise, because of holes. It doesn't take much to spoil an otherwise good design by adding holes or other spoiler details, and unfortunately it happens quite often.
i was more annoyed by the stupid visible panty line look on the sky jumper outfit that seems to be modelled in, making me throw it out my wishlist so fast.
As mentioned, a Geo-Shell with whatever cloth or metal, or maile textures is the fastest way to get around the holes. I'm all for practical armor, flat boots, and full coverage for real protection against the elements and weapons.
I have done that for years, some of the skimp looks awesome with a second skin
The problem with using a geoshell or bodysuit is that they won't have textures matching the outfit. Yes, I know, you can use shaders, but that won't give the same result as if it was complete.
black goes with everything
It does, but that might not be the style you want.
For example if I wanted to render a character wearing Sky Jumper Outfit facing back, I wouldn't want to have a big black area where the hole is. And using a leather shader with the same tint as the outfit (assuming I have one) wouldn't give me a "complete outfit" feeling either because of the "folds" on the side stopping where the hole was.
Because of the "holes" designed into these outfits, I also avoided purchasing them. I thought briefly about getting the sky jumper outfit anyway because I could have tried covering the hole in the back by putting a longer jacket on the figure but I am not sure I have one that will work well with that style so I ultimately passed on purchasing it.
Perhaps in the future things like "holes" could be a feature that could be dialed on or off or maybe a preset ?
So, really, the actual topic is 'I don't like this style of clothing please make a different style.'
No one is saying that. They just want options/texture to patch up these impractical holes. Having more options is always a good thing, imho.
X-Fashion actually showed the holes in the mesh, but I'm not seeing a similar textureless image for the other.
This is why I skipped it too.

I agree with most of you. I'd buy a lot more clothes if they did NOT have holes or peekaboos in them. Definitely.

Even though there isn't a back view of the clay render, I'll bet the Sky Jumper's open back is built in. The vendors have a track record of including arbitrary holes. Damn shame, because the outfit overall, looks really useful.
Otoh, I see from the description that the harnes apparently is a separate item, so the straps are *not* modeled in. That does make the jumpsuit (even with a hole) a bit more versatile.
Maybe the hole is to make it easier to apply wings. (grins, ducks, and runs...)
After all, she's a *sky* jumper...
Well to be fair, when I saw the name wings were the very first thing I thought of for the outfit
Without the jacket. It would get in the way. That said, the opening could still be an option.

Well, you have a good point there.
But if she wears a jetpack or something (and we're not talking an aero rig like from GOTG Vol. 2, hehe), then she might as well invest in some burn cream and aloe vera gel. D:
Or a geoshell, with a shader that looks like insulation. Do like those boots and the jacket. And the jumpsuit is attractive of its sort, even with the silly hole. Does anyone have this set and could let us know if there are visibility presets, for hiding the top, or the pants individually? Sometimes less is more...versitile.
Sometimes you can just copy the material used on the clothing and apply it directly to the figure's skin to get a perfect match. You might need to adjust tiling or offset slightly, or you might want to fire up photoshop and cut& paste a nice big solid middle square across the entire image if there were any gaps in the material that show up. Won't always work, but as a quick hack it's extremely easy and useful to solve this sort of problem in certain cases.
While I'm probably in the minority and more likely to buy an outfit when there is more skin showing, as I like sexy and pinup type renders, I have to admit that the holes in that particular suit where pretty off-putting to me. To me, they're not really in a sexy or attractive place, just ...awkward, imo. There's just no reason for them, as they don't really make the outfit sexier - just looks ...chilly and cold. lol
The suit looks great otherwise, and the modelling is fantastic. I just wish that either the holes where in a more strategically placed spot so that they enhanced the sexiness, or just no holes at all, as the current holes are just - "why?".
Personally I don't have an issue with the holes in either suit. Sky jumper actually looks great and makes sense to me. Usually I am all in favor of showing more skin and prefer modeled holes over using transparencies. That being said, I have learned that using the geometry editor to create my own material zones has given new use to many outfits that otherwise might be limited in scope and use because of how they were designed.
Here is an example. I kitbashed together a warrior outfit, but wanted it to show more and be more unique, so geometry editor to the rescue, LOL Original on the left, my edit on the right
The black covered part also looks SHEER in the promo picks. Most of the contemporary and sci-fi women's clothes seem to be created for the pinup artist crowd but you can get a lot of mileage out retexturing/applying shaders to the more sensible pieces.
Nothing against pinup art - I just need my action heroine's to look competent as well as attractive.
...and most of the time, those holes are in the easiest to hit targets of the body. Thats why I like Xurge's futuristic armour suits.
Crikey, not everyone shooting at your will be an Imperial Storm Trooper who can't hit the broad side of a sandcrawler.
