Does the M4 Manequin still work?

JOdelJOdel Posts: 6,318

I need a store manequin. There's one in the store here. It's by MindVision and is exactly what is needed.  It's for M4, but I am assuming that gen 4 will still work in 4.9.

This seems to be a mistaken assumption. I attempt to inject the pose, and nothing happens. I can apply the mats, but I need the arms and legs off with the metal locks in place and the stand. There is clearly something going on other than simply turning various poly groups invisible, since where the locks load, does not comply with the polys of the figure.

The zero arms, legs and head buttons (which have thumbnails that depict dials, but there are no dials) do nothing.

I thought that I would ask before asking for a refund. Because the product appears to be disabled in the current version of Studio.

Have you checked the parameter pane for new dials after using the INJ poses?

Those morphs might work like the morphs++ packs where the INJ poses add the new morphs but don't set them.

Edit: Another thought: since those are custom morphs they might use the Exp system and require running the M4 .bat file after installing to create new channels.

I realized I had the product (well, the V4 version and the M4 upgrade) so I redownloaded it to check the files:

    - the "zero" poses are just that, poses zeroing the translate / rotate / .... parameters

    - the "!MannequinINJ.pz2" pose will indeed inject the new morphs but not set them.

    - Those morphs use the community channels of the figure, not Exp technology.

So to remove the arms you will need to use the !MannequinINJ.pz2 pose first, then use the new "NoLeftArm" and "NoRightArm" morphs which should now appear in the "Injection Channels: Community" section (or something like that) in the parameters pane.

Been so long since I used gen4 I'm unclear on the concept.

    Yup, that did it. Thanks.

Yes, but you'll want to update materials for iRay.

No doubt I will if I ever use it with Iray. Now that I've got a model I can re-use it however often I need it.

You could also use Genesis with Rawart's severed man, and there's also this for G3F

Yeah, but that one isn't a mannequin. I needed something that I can put in a shop. There are a few female mannequins around and about (most of them based on V4) but that seems to be the only male one.
