Krampus Original Figure

How well does the Krampus Original Figure play with others?  It looks like it's a stand-alone figure, not tied in with the Genesis line.  Can things be fit to it?  Can I use it's fur on genesis figures?

  • I'm not sure; this is one of those things you might want to ask Customer Service about and see if they can contact Sixus1 Media to find out.

More than likely not going to happen since it is a standalone figure.

Rigging transfer should work to get clothes to fit him

This tutorial by @SickleYield is for transferring clothes between G3 and G8, but the concept might still work for getting clothes to fit on other figures.

  • It won't, not even slightly.  The reason it works for G3 to G8 and back is that they're almost the same shape in a different pose.  You need a very different workflow when the figures are different shapes, and if Krampus is a different rigging style preserving custom bones may not be possible at all.

Ah, I see. Perhaps if they load the clothing item and use the X, Y, Z sliders to try and get it to the approximate right size, export it as an OBJ then reimport it and use the transfer utility? Do you think that might work? :) I'm sure it wouldn't preserve the bones, but maybe it would work for clothing items that don't rely heavily on them?

Might as well just use parenting and d-formers at that point?

  • I am in production session at the moment and can't stop to do it, but as soon as I have a break, I'd be glad to shoot a quick video showing how I would go about the process of fitting things to Krampus. It's nowhere near as hard as it might seem at first. Just a little different because it's a standalone figure. -Les

That would be great, Les! I'll be watching this thread then. I'm looking forward to it! :)

BTW, I miss your Artist Development Seminars! :)
