I work in cyber and surveymonkey is legit.  I filled out the survey this morning.

P.S. It's a good thing some of you were cautious.  You should be.  Never click on something if you are not sure it's legit.  Good job to those that checked.

  • I didn't get the survey. Guess daz doesn't care for my opinion.

Same here.  No survey for me either.  Either they don't care about my opinion or I have not spent enough recently?  *shrug*

I wasn't surveyed either, but apparently they're asking for fairly detailed responses rather than yes/no answers, so presumably somebody's got to go through all that data and do something with it, rather than just have a computer count the number of 'yes' and the number of 'no'. In which case, I can see why they couldn't ask everyone - there are thousands of us as far as I know. I'd imagine it was a random sampling that had nothing to do with what was spent either, as I assume they'd be as interested in what makes people look at what's on offer and say 'no' just as much as what makes the big spenders shell out.

Did you check your spam folders? Because that's where it was for me.

I'm relieved that I wasn't the only one who needed this to be clarified as a real survey.

One thing I don't understand, is why Daz would want to know about incomes. I know that you don't have to tell them, but, as long as people are buying their products, what does it matter? Unless they're planning to charge people to use Daz Studio again (either by paying for the program or subscription - I can't help thinking like that, I'm just an extremely paranoid person).

If they see that a disproportionate number of the people responding have high incomes, it may mean that they're losing potential sales from lower income brackets that they could regain by dropping prices.  Or, yes, potentially the opposite.

Took the survey last night, how do we recieve the $5? Will it just show up as store credit?

Pretty sure it'll just show up as store-credit (they said 'by the 18th' so if you've not got it by then, post about it and see if anyone else has)

This is my second survey. (Guess I got lucky.) Anyway, the credit will just show up. You don't have to do anything... except spend it.

I wish Daz would hurry up and give me that $5.  There is an item on sale today that I would love to apply the credit too.  I don't know if it's a 1 day sale or not.

Which category is that item in?

I'm guessing it won't show up until the 18th.Which might be just in time to drop it on a new feature model. >.>

Oh yeah, that's a fantastic set and one of the ones I use constantly.  All of JoeQuick's morph sets are worth their weight in gold... unfortunately, a lot of them never got ported over from the V4/M4 era and I didn't manage to buy all of those before he shut his Renderosity store.  :(

It's looking like that particular PA wasn't supposed to be a featured artist today, he doesn't have any new releases and the sale price has been completely removed from all of his items.  Nothing official has been said about it though.

Well that just stinks.  On the bright side, maybe it will go back on sale when I get my store credit.  One can hope.

I can understand both the age and the income questions (income is obvious as it tells them a little about our spending habbits. Do people with more money tend to spend more or is everyone spending about the same amount no matter how much they make? for example)

As for age, it lets them know the current buying market (Are we selling a bunch of skimpware to teens or dirty old men? j/k) If your current market is already the younger crowd, then you don't need to spend a lot of time marketing to younger people, you need to figure out how to draw the older crowd for example.

Plus when you combine the questions you get information such as how much do younger people spend and what is their income difference compared to older people and of those that don't spend a whole lot, what age group do they fall in, are they younger people without a lot of money, or are they older people on a budget?

You're correct.  The questions are very valuable to DAZ marketeers.  What I worry about is some hacker getting that information and using it to steal my identification.  Another common senario would be a DAZ employee exposing my information by accident.  I wrote a paper back in 2009 that showed most data breaches, up to that time, were from careless employees not hackers.  Now both are very real possibilities.  So yeah, I'm a little paranoid.  If anyone other than Daz had made the offer, the email would've been deleted.  Hopefully Daz secures their systems well and will be careful with my information (no system is 100% secure if it's connected to the internet).

Actually it is the opposite of that, if your current crowd is young, then they are the people that you would market to, since they are the ones more likely to be interested if you current demographic is young. Marketing is expensive, so the idea is to pull in the highest percentage possible of the groups you target.

Sure, I get it. Demographics research and all. Its just that in this day and age, personal information I like to keep exactly that, personal.

Seems kind of dishonest to take someone's money for a survey and then lie on it.

On my age, big deal. Had they included a prefer not to answer option like they should have I would have chosen that. Everything else was on the square.

Actualy, they did have that option because I chose it.  Not getting on you case, just pointing it out.

Interesting, taking the survey on a mobile device I don't think I saw that option, I saw it for income...

I was on my laptop. I remember thinking to myself, why wouldnt they include a prefer not to answer option for age brackett when they did for the income question.

I wonder if there's any chance they'll share some of the data they've gathered. Even a few tidbits about the general userbase and how it answered would be fascinating.
