Hello y'all,
I see there are 2 such kits, one being on today's promo.
So the questions are :
- does any of those sets really bring something to the table in terms of possibilities (not just laziness) when you have the base Morph set for G8F ?
- Is one of the kits better / more important than the other ?
- Is kit 1 recommended before kit 2 ?
- Are both sets really complementary ?

Yes, these extend what is available in the base morph set quite a bit.
This is more of a personal thing, they are different, so you really need to look at the promo images to figure out if one is more to your liking than the other.
Not really 100% sure, I would say they are independent of each other, and if #2 has more morphs you like, go with it. I've always bought both because each one usually has something I like (but I'm now getting into creating my own morphs).
The earlier sets have been, and it looks like these are too. They provide a lot a variety to make just about any face shape for anyone who isn't comfortable making their own morphs.
My only complaint is that many morphs are named something like; "Cheek Shape 1", "Cheek Shape 2", etc. which isn't very descriptive. As a result, you end up testing them all just to figure out what they do since you have no idea
That's helpful, thanks. :)
When you say you're into your own morphs do you mean with the base Morph kit inside Daz, or with outside applications (ZBrush / Blender etc) ?
I'm using BlackSmith3D (BS3D), I've had it for several years, and used it primarily for texturing. With the introduction of G8, I decided it was time to do my own, and looked a bit more in depth at BS3D, and really liked the workflow they showed in the tutorials. So I gave it a go, and was quite happy with the process and results (I've tried with Hexagon and Carrara in the past, but never got the results I had hoped for). Any modeling (or sculpting) application will be able to move vertices and make morphs. What I like about BS3D is the workflow, and the ability to make individual dial controlled morphs in the application. I'm hoping to start making content for sale, so this is a huge plus, since every character I make, if done properly, will add to my personal morph list. Basically I'm creating something like the morph sets you asked about, only in BS3D, so I can dial the morphs I want, then add in others if needed to make the character, and export back to DS as a single morph package. This also means I could fairly easily design my own morph packages, and export the individual morphs back to DS.
Making your own morphs can be fun, but the morph sets are super easy to use for designing your own characters.
Interesting ! I'l check that one out one of these days then.
Might be handy if hovering over them while pressing ctrl or something would apply the morph 100% temporarily. Not that difficult to make I think. I'm not going to pay 13.95 for an addon that can do it though. :)
