Best place to share freebies now?

The last I saw Renderosity was delaying downloads with clickthroughs and a really weird interface and encouraging users to split downloads into single poses etc with some kind of reward system. ShareCG improved their categories but is cluttered with a mess of ads and people trying to sell shrink-wrapped dresses.
Is this all there is? Cloud storage is looking like the nicest option but that has drawbacks with searchability and no ability to preview.

ShareCG is the only one I can think of, unless you want to invest in your own dropbox or google drive accounts, or maybe even your own site.
Yeah, I don't know what happened with sharecg. I never remember anything being able to be sold on that site, then all of a sudden, one day there was a bunch of stuff for sale and I fear it's only going to get worse. Everyone is going to try selling their wares whether it's good or not.
There's always DeviantArt. On the plus side, there's no cost to create an account, no upload limit, downloads are free, there's plenty of room for both text and artwork, and it's easily the single biggest concentration of DS and Poser users on the planet. On the down side, well... it's definitely not SFW. :p
DeviantArt is a freaking fantastic idea, thanks.
Its hard to find things on Deviantart unless you know the artist you're looking for.
good idea to try deviant art
DeviantArt is much more reliable and stable uploads, and much more engaging since can respond and thank people who happen to give feedback. Thats the big rewarding thing about DA imo. ShareCG has a lot more exposure though, unless you are super popular on DA (Im not), but I find it helps to get it out there by submitting to any groups that welcome 3d freebies
I thought DA was for pictures only?
Oh heavens no Taoz. DA has been a great "go to" for downloads, not just inspiring art works.
Strange, never seen anything else but pics there. Can you download 3D content? I've just checked, still can't find anything.
This for example, some HDRi lights for daz.
ShareCG started offering the option to sell stuff there a few months back.
I guess they should update their name to SortaShareCG or Sell&ShareCG?... Sorta like all those former 99¢ stores that are now "99¢ and Above".
It kinda sucks, but SCG has been kinda going downhill for a while and complaining about operating costs and whatnot for some time... At this point I've developed a "whatever" attitude towards them... If they go under, I'll probably look into posting my freebies on Deviant Art... But since that has such a social media slant, I really don't feel like getting into that now.
What I always liked about SCG was that it was well known, allowed for decent thumbnails and was easy to use.
In my opinion, the decision to start selling stuff there is a bad one and muddies up the waters... Already a couple of people removed their free content in favor of items for sale, and several people removed their entire collections in protest... I'm just waiting to see at what point people start trying to game the system with pirated models (theres already a guy there who posts 3D Warehouse as his own creations... Although these "Gifts" are still free).
SquidCG is more appropriate with the prices they are asking for on those models. I have not seen something like that since we had a poster here who finished the Hexagon chair tutorial incorrectly and tried to sell it as a space ship. Nuts to that site, I'm going to see if I can give it away at Deviant Art if they don't kick me off there again.
OK, but it seems to be hard to find. Just scrolled through the Poser category, didn't notice anything but pics and tutorials. No 3D models, characters, poses. The whole place is very chaotic IMO.
It helps if you look at the 3D specific groups that allow freebies. You don't have to join the groups to dl stuff.
349,757 results. Is that the number of groups?
Type in the search box "free" or " free poser" and than click on some category, like Resources and stock images or one of its subcategories.
I've always thought DA was pretty unorganized myself. I've tried finding 3D content on my own a couple times but never found anything and gave up searching after a little bit. I just wait until kind people here let us know they've got something and share a link.
*edit*
Not to mention the amount of fan-art there and restricted uses that I need to be real careful of
What I like about ShareCG is that you can set it up to have a PayPal donation button; I like doing stuff free, and hey, man, toss me some money if you want.
DA Homepage --> More --> Groups --> Type in search bar: 3D Modeling --> I get 67 results. If I type in DAZ I get 91 results. You can narrow it down more from there.
OK, tried "free poser", found two content items among a ton of pics. But it can be hard to see what things are, so I may have overlooked some.
I would have expected more DAZ stuff, I guess I must be maladjusted from being here.
Do a search for Sickleyield or Laticis on DA and then when you find them, look at the 'Show more'...it will probably also show a couple of 'groups' that have freebie listings.
It is chaotic, but there are some great artists who pop up freebies, including many of the DAZ folks who maintain pages there like RawArt. A lot of it is in ones-twosey sets, but off the top of my head, three really outsanding freebie galleries are those of Laticis, who has a huge selection of props, fiberhair and figure add-ons, Sedartonfokcaj who has a ton of wresting and boxing poses, props and sets for Genesis 1 and up, and the late Ancestorsrelic https://ancestorsrelic.deviantart.com/gallery/23628965/Random-from-3D-Models-for-Poser-DAZ-Studio-and-as-obj-files who posted some phemonemal original creature figures, props and set pieces, including a full riverboat. Just yesterday I picked up a whole set of "murder" poses for G3 and G8 from an artist named Yasham. It's a bit like a treasure hunt, but I'm fairly sure that my DA freebies stack is second only to the ones from ShareCG and Rendo.
That's what I meant by "Hard to Find". DeviantArt doesn't care about freebies, so there is no way to find them. If you are going to use DA, you should probably find some populae site to advertise on,such as the freebies forum here.
Type daz poser freebies deviantart and you'll get a lot more links than that, and that's before you try alternate searches like DAZ iray free deviant art. Honestly, I've yet to find a site seach engine anywhere that's half as good as Google in ferreting things out, but the quick way to find the biggest gems is to find a favorites folder where someone has collected links to freebies, then look in the suggestioons menu to the side of any item and it will show other collections where it and other items can also be found.
You are quite right. And often on looking at the "more from DA" links further down freebie pages can lead you to nice stuff. It just takes a bit of effort.
If I get tired of ShareCG for some reason I'll just do what I used to do - put them up on my own site and publish the site links in areas where I announce the freebies like here, Rendo, Hivewire, etc.

I wish Share CG would separate the Freebees from the for sale content. Between ShareCG and Renderosity I like ShareCG a bit more but it takes for freaking ever to upload something to that site, but once you do it goes live right away. Renderosity your uploads have to be approved. Usually they do it the next day but I've had stuff take almost a week to be approved.
