Water drops too big in fountain

Just had a look at the water fountains set. It has taken me some time (several months), but now I know what disturbed me with all these rigged water props all over DAZ/S. They are too big. Too much Volume to look real. Smaller ones, and more of them, and the water would look much more natural. Before I buy, does anybody know if it's possible to resize just the singulair drops around the main water body and multiply them?

  • Sorry I don't know the answer to your particular question. I have always found water in iRay to resemble syrup. It never looks real to me EXCEPT....I did find a product in the Renderosity store called Flinks water fx (the PA is flink) which is a series of fine water splashes etc. These were designed for poser, ( and also includes each splash as an object file), but with the iRay water shader applied they look brilliant and realistic to my eyes. If you then play with the iRay refraction colour setting....a hint of blue for sea or lake water, red for blood, or just plain white, etc, you will find them quite versatile.

Hope this helps in your search for more realistic water, I have also found Mec4d's PBS shaders volume 2 iray product has some nice liquid shaders that work very well with flink's water fx, so you may wish to pick these up when next on sale.

</p Completely agree with everything in your post. His water FX is really great. I don't use water much, but I do like Sickleyield's last couple water products. I just haven't used them much. But yeah, I do get that 'corn syrup' look no matter what I've tried.

    OriginalDuplicated and adjusted

    SplitChair splash upside down

I have this one: https://www.daz3d.com/rigged-water-iray which haves Pool setup which haves 4 pieces which all can be resized, adjusted separately, duplicated. All of the pieces can be loaded as separate props and theres bunch of other props in the product like Chair splash which also can be used for fountain. With rigged props you can resize individual bones and turn off/on their visibility so you can use just the parts you want. But no, no singular drops, unless you wish to use geometry editor tool to hide or delete drops you dont want.

Edited to add, you can make single drop with DS sphere primitive which you deform with d-former. And then you can duplicate it or instance it as much times as you need.
