Thin film issues

Thin film is fun, but in many renders it starts out vibrant and dulls over time. I suspect it's related to pixel filtering, but I'm not sure how to lower the filtering without gaining a lot of jagged edges.

    Well I'm doing my 1st render ever without that FireFly filter turned off, and it seems faster, not a bad guess I guess as it's doing less math, and it looks mostly better but it seems it primarily served to hide the 'pixely noisy irises' from what I can see so far. I need to render glass and water though and a couple of renders that are glossier / shinier / darker...

    I may as well set that Pixel Radius Filter Guassian/... thing to 0.0 and have no filters at all...
