Will DIM Create The Correct Folders?

I had all of my content library on an external drive. When I installed the external drive I moved all of my content library over to that drive. The drive croaked after 7 months and I lost my entire library. I have a new external drive (I don't have enough space for all my content on my laptop). But, the entire library structure was on that external drive. Will DIM create the right folders? Studio itself is installed on the main drive so the program itself is still intact, its just the library I need to re download.

Assuming you have created the top-level folder (the equivalent of My Daz 3D Library) then yes. I'm not sure if DIM will create the actual content dierctory, though - it's not something I have tried.
Okay I will start with that and we will see what happens lol.
So, DIM will create the right folders. The only problem is, it doesn't seem to be able to tell that everything is no longer installed. So, if I try to uninstall it, it just hangs up because it can't find the files to uninstall. But, I can't delete the files because they are gone. And there is no way to delete something in DIM that shows installed. It looks like I am going to have to manually install 112 pages because I can't use DIM. Now, new stuff, it will install to the right place no problem.
DIM should allow you to uninstall products even if the files aren't there. Does the new external have the same drive letter as the old one?
You could also move everything out of the ManifestFiles folder, then DIM would see them as not installed.
Yes it does have the same letter although I re pointed it to the right place. Where would I find the ManifestFiles folder?
Default location is something like C:\users\public\documents\daz 3d\install manager\ManifestFiles
Yup, that did the trick thank you very much!
Here's a little advice that you may find usefull when using an external drive for your content folder. Manualy change the drive letter for that external drive to a letter near the end of the alphabet. Then set DIM and Daz studio to look there for your content folder. Doing this will avoid any drive letter conflicts caused by plugging in other external drives and flash drives.
In Windows 10 (Win7 and 8 should be the same start menu command) open your start menu and type "Disk Management" then press "Enter"
Find your external drive on the list in the upper half of the window
Right click on it and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths..."
Select the "Change" button
Pick the Drive Letter that you would like to use from the drop down menu
Click "OK" (it will warn you about programs not functioning corectly, just click OK when it does)
Windows will now go through and read the drive again as if you just plugged it in, but now it will have the new drive letter.
That HDD will always grab the drive letter that you set every time you plug it into that computer now.
