I don't see why you can't just load it, then positon it in place and parent it. You could even add a smoothing modifier and collision if you need a tighter fit. I do this for all hair that isn't made for the figure I am using, from V3 to G8, works fine. If you plan on using it again and again, then save it as a figure asset after parented
What FSMCDesigns said.
For somebody programming coping/paste text and files, search and replace can be useful for some type of automatic batch process.
I often export figures to FBX and use "Merge clothing into figure skeleton" option, it works correctly only on fitted clothes/hair. Parenting will produce unneeded complexity in skeleton which will give you problems when you'll want to import back to DS, say motion.
Also long hairs are often rigged to collar bones (not in case of GeeGee).
Currently it's the first and only product that I felt the need to fit in such way. If there'd be more - I'd made some utility to save me some clicks :) Also there might be a way to do the same thing buried deep in Studio UI and I simply cannot find it.
a lot of things can be fixed in notepad hacks even Genesis 3 compatibility with Carrara if one knows where to look, I wish more people who can cared.
I didn't look into it but I'd guess it's those 'spline_tcb' ops have to be changed to linear approximations :)
Asking this cuz Ima DS dummy....Why won't the GeeGee hair just autofit like other stuff? Load it, then tell it the hair was designed for G8, say it's a shoulder length hair and hit ok. That's what I do for all my other hairs.
It probably would, but many times you lose the morphs and/or the quality of the mesh when autofitting
It has extra bones for side bangs, they will be lost.
Transfer Utility can be used to perform autofitting but it offers more control over the process. If you use Transfer Utility with the Merge Hierarchies option it will preserve the bones.

As I said, there IS way to do it via UI :) One thing thou - all manipulations with compatibility bases require DAZ CMS to be running, my way is simple direct manipulation with text files.
Yes, but weight maps will be changed and not for good. See yourself:
Edit: well, if you uncheck "Weight maps" but check "Merge ..." it seems to work fine :)
