I WANT A ROCK!

*Que Twisted Sister music then the abrupt scratch of a record*

Sorry.... Let me 'splain.

I need a large stone pillar, roughly hewn with vines covering the base roughly 10 ft to 15 feet tall with a texture map I can modify.

Anyone know where a lad can find one? :)

    Please...do Blender... smiley

It even has a vine-making plugin that I've never used but it looks cool in videos very easy to use.

The stone pillar is super easy to make.

    Just sayin'......smiley

Might have to. Was hoping one was pre-made to save time and effort but.... I have zbrush, if worse comes to worse. :)

I was about ready to say "that set looks sweet as h..." then I saw it was a Stonemason product. Of course it's sweet.

Will any of these sets work?

    Ancient Temple Ruins

    Archaic Ruins

    Ancient Ruins

    Trilithenge (no vines though)

    The Ruins of Angkor Wat

    Blender....10 minutes...maybe 15 tops...

Cylinder, extrude ends a bit, add a couple of cubes at the ends, extrude a bit, UV and you're done.

Stonemason? Nuff said. :) I actually have this set and could probably warp a pillar to fit my needs in ZBrush but...

I was hoping more for a large stone roug hewn like from Stonehenge.

There's a morphing rock that I believe came over from RDNA that might work to make rectangular shapes

Darn you....you got me going on columns. But not rough hewn. Cuz I don't really know what that means. I don't think I've ever hewn something.

    Knowingly, at least.... smiley

I can do that and more in 3DSMax in 2 minutes, but can't ever figure out the controls in Blender. Hence my comment. maybe one day it will "click", so I keep opening Blender up and trying to make it work, LOL.

was going to suggest morphing rocks and formations good product got here but looks like no longer here image

this is the blurb on my product library page

Morphing Rocks And Formations is the ultimate bundle to build unlimited stone sceneriy like in the illustrations of famous fantasy artists. Pedestals for your heroes, stone walls, rock platforms for your amazons over stone columns, menhirs for your druids and wizards, boulders in which your fairies rest, dolmens for your historical ancient cultures... A must have!
You have 3 basic round shapes with already applied materials, that you can morph using 12 morphs included, plus a twist bone, and 7 rock materials, and 12 already shaped stones, and 8 full scenery.
Some basic suggested uses of the rock morphs:
    - Almond: basic all purpose shape that can quickly build platforms and stone grounds
    - Boulder: do you need to fill a natural scene with rocks? This is the perfect option
    - Brick: may look great on ancient architectural scenes
    - Column: put some of these and you will get a classic fantasy environment
    - Curved Platform: a shape often seen in many illustrations
    - Menhir: bring the majesty of megalithic monuments to your themes
    - Meteorite: the perfect shape for a falling rock or the weapon of a giant or a freak, and also great for sci-fi meteorites
    - Mound: ideal for small mountains
    - Mushroom: may look great over the columns, or if you need to pile up a series of stones
    - Pedestal: as a magical flying stone platform or as a pedestal to highlight your characters
    - Round Step: may provide quick stone steps in a natural scenery
    - Stratum: rock shaped by the wind and water, making natural complex platforms
And remember that you can also mix and math these different morphs and the materials to get complex shapes as you wish!
All the set works both in DAZ Studio and Poser. You can install in one or both applications independently.

stonemason's abandoned temple has really nice rough and weathered stone columns with vines growing on 'em.  scene subsets/props.

the columns are set up with turtle-hewn bases, but they're also sectional.  you could hide or subtract a turtle and replace it with a column section easily enough.

besides the vines that twine around the columns, there are vines that snake along the ground plane.

In the RDNA thing there are some Posable Vines.

    Jungle Vines

    Traveler's Naturals - Heavy Vines Vol 3

    Traveler's Naturals - Heavy Vines Vol 4

as for rocks, search the store for Rock Formation, there are about six to eight of them (though it may be only 6).

I think that the Blender Ivy addon and Fenric's Ivy plugin for Carrara are both ports of that same original code from Thomas Luft, so it's really all just one plugin, spreading from program to program like...um...some kind of spreading plant or something. laugh

Sounds great and I think the price is just right.  A penny more would make me think twice.
