Can someone please check if they still have this hair in their account and in their DIM?  I was reloading hairs that were missing in my 4.9 beta custom categories and this seems to have competely disappeared from my product list under my account and also from DIM.  Its actually still in my product library inside of Daz studio but its competely gone from DIM and from my account.  This is the free hair that has come with every generatiosn including G8F.

And it seems to be gone from the shop as well?

  • With G8F, it think it is inside the Starter Essentials package.

Yes, I actually have the toulouse hair for every generation but they are all gone from my account and no longer show up in DIM as installed or installable. They also do not show in mY product library list inside of studio although they do still show under the individual people/ genesis whatever/hair/ toulouse hair.  But no where else.

it should be in the starter essentials

Ugh I guess that means if I want it to show up in my categories in the Beta build I am going to have to re install the whole starter bundle for Gen3?  That kind of sucks...

Yeah, I'm not seeing it in DIM either, though it does show up in Daz Smart Content. Weird.

...what I did was create a copy of my DIM install folder (which I update from the main one) to keep from losing items. As I am still working with the 4.9.3.166 Beta no point in DLing and installing the G8 basics. Basically am content with G3 for now as I've put a lot of work into the characters I have and don't care to go through it (and the associated expense) all over again

I don't blame you Kyota Kid.  I am not rushing into G8F either although I did load the starter pack and picked up a couple characters. Honestly since I can now convert my G3Female morphs over to G38 and the skins work perfectly, I am not in a hurry to pick up a bunch of stuff either.  And I can move all of the hair and clothing up via transfer utility so it keeps the morphs and just save them as assets and I have all of my G3 clothing for V8.  I am still working my way through converting all of my older generation clothing up to G3F so I will just move them up one more step.  I do like the better expressions that G8F has.

...yeah, as I create characters of varying ages I pretty much have what I need. To make G8 as useful would mean having to purchase the base morphs, Growing Up morphs, as well as all the merchant resource morph and shaping kits all over again. Furthermore I'd lose GenX which is also an important plugin (for which may likely see no more updates).

You wouldn't lose GenX. I've used it to transfer characters like Callie 6 to G3F then used Redz tutorial to transfer that morph to G8F. :)]

    Here's G8F with Callie 6 dialed in at 40%:

Also one thing I really like about Genesis 8 are the improved bends and expressions. I think they're definitely superior to G3's bends and expressions.

...yeah, but it means more steps to accomplish what I already can do. I'm one of those people who likes to wait and "let the dust settle a bit". Doing so with the W10 "free upgrade" for example paid off as W7 still suits my needs just fine.

haha I still have win7 on both my laptop and my newer pc.  I felt like I struck gold when I realized my new PC still had Win7 and not Win10 a couple of years ago.  And if I have my way, when its time to upgrade, I will have my computer guy load Win7 on the next one too...

...yeah if you have a hefty firewall and up to date AV/anti malware utilities, no need to upgrade. I even disabled updating all together when MS moved to the bundled rollup format whereby you no longer could reject or accept individual update files.

I disable all automatic updates on everything.  I paid for the stuff, and I will update it when or if I want to and not a second before lol.  I'm funny like that.

...same here. As long as I don't go for the next generation CPUs for my next build I'll be fine. Besides, unless you can afford a Quadro card, W10 reserves a "noticeable" portion of GPU memory.

I think I am good for quite a bit.  Hopefully the laptop will last several more years, its already 5 or 6 years old, but is doing fine.  I did get an external drive because I ran out of memory but other than that, it keeps chugging along lol. I somehow managed to pick a PC that does fairly well with Iray rendering, before I discovered Daz and its only a couple years old so hopefully, it too will last a good long while yet.

...I have a 32 bit notebook that is over 11 years old which I used to do all my 3D work on that still is going strong. A portion of the keyboard burned out due to the heat from rendering, so I now use a secondary wireless keyboard. My workstation that I built is going on five years old.

I bought a $20 laptop fan for under my laptop when I noticed how hot it was getting when rendering.  Its made a huge difference in teh heat coming off of it and I am hoping that it will extend the life of it by a good margin.

...I had one of those too and had the computer slightly elevated off the desk for better airflow as well as on warm days, a secondary external fan aimed at the side vent.

Well as long as it remains freely available I guess you've got nothing toulouse, eh, no, wait, I mean...

*snicker*  thanks for that Taoz lol.

  • So this Tools for Content Management is something you created, Taoz? What motivated you to do that and thank you?

You're welcome. In the beginning I just wrote tools for batch download and categorization of product files, as I find manual download and categorization of files extremely boring and time consuming. Then it evolved into making other tools that can save time and make it easier finding and working with your content.

Well Thank you Taoz; I was going bonkers looking for my Toulouse hair; and now I have a most useful tool. I'm sort of glad I archive all my purchases and freebies to an external drive. I found it within a bundle and it now comes up when I seek it out in the search function of Content Library while I am Running Daz Studio. I know I've never purchased FBX's Base Female Asian Evening Wear nor Groovy Patrol's Ultimate Zombie HD for Genesis 3 Female nor 3DJoJi's Little Twins (when you search for Toulouse Hair in the Daz3d Store's search bar)

  • Just one question (https://www.daz3d.com/forums/profile/Taoz) Taoz, your tools for Content Management expire tomorrow. Does that mean it will cease to function or will no longer have permision to be used to access my Daz3d account? Thank you.

Yea, the store search can really show some weird results sometimes.

BTW I seem to have noticed that DAZ Studio search only works with exact words (like if you want to search for toulouse and just type "toul" it won't find it).

It will, but there will be an update with a new expiration date. It will probably continue that way until the final version is released.
