Saving Genesis Textures converted to Genesis 3
in The Commons
Hi:
Is there any way to save a texture converted from Genesis to Genesis 3 as one separate texture, without separate area for legs, head, shoulders, ears etc. ? I have converted textures from both M4/V4 and Genesis, and would like to be able to apply the Wet and Tan Skins for Genesis 3. Any assistance will be appreciated. Thanks!!

Converted how? Using Cayman Studio's UVs sets, Blacksmith 3D, or...? I honestly don't understand why you'd want to combine them into a single UV, since Wet and Tan Skins works with the G3UVs, not a single UV, and includes a script for geo-graft items which, IIRC, can be used to transfer the skin properties to any iray-prepped surface. .
In any case, if you're just looking for faster and easier, a better option would be a geo-shell based tan product like https://www.daz3d.com/wet-body-iray-bundle-for-genesis-3-2-female-s as those are completely UV independent.
Hi:
Thanks for responding - I am using Cayman Studio's UV converter for both Genesis and M4/V4. The problem I have is using Wet and Tan Skins on textures I have converted to G3 applications. When a UV is converted from, say, Genesis to a G3 model, five (5) separate sub-categories are created as objects as Legacy_G3M_Head, Legacy_G3M_Leg (R), Legacy_G3M_Shlr (L), etc. When the Wet and Tan Skins are applied and then rendered, none of sub-categories reflect the application and are a different color, shade, and reflection. What I am trying to do is have the both the model textures and the sub-categories have all the same colors. Any advice you can give me will be greatlly appreciated. Thanks again for your help, and have great day.
Right, now I understand. Those aren't separate areas, they're actually separate objects (the G3 figure and the Geografts.) If you look, you'll see that each of the geografts is actually broken into sub areas as well. The problem is that even though you're putting all those items on a G3 figure, you're still actually working with G2 UVs and Wet and Tan Skins for G3 is designed to work on G3 UVs. If you want to transfer G2 skins to G3 and use Wet and Tan, you need to buy the version made for the G3UVs... https://www.daz3d.com/wet-and-tanned-skins-for-genesis-2 and apply it to the skin while it's on a G2 figure that's been converted to iray, then save that as a material preset and apply that to G3 with the Cayman Legacy UVs and geografts. However, my experience has been that if you have tan lines applied to your G2 skin, they may disappear or be in the wrong place on the G3 figure. As for the V4 skins, there is, unfortunately, no Wet and Tan skin product designed for V4 or Genesis 1. However, the product I mentioned above https://www.daz3d.com/wet-body-iray-bundle-for-genesis-3-2-female-s will work on any skin texture that can be applied to G3. There are some alternate ways of getting things to work, but they all, frankly, are VERY labor and time intensive. Using Blacksmith 3D, sold at Renderosity, you can remap the other skins to G3, though I personally find B3D to be very clunky and have never really been satisfied with the results I got. Maybe someone else whose had better luck with it will have suggestions.
Bruce, I have had a quick look at the Wet and Tanned product, and it looks like you should be able to transfer texture effects to the geografts using the script in sub-folder "04 Geograft Transfer". You just have to make sure that all the surfaces from each of the geografts is transferred to the final column.
I have attached an image of G3F with G2F texture and geografts. "Wet and Tanned" is not UV specific, it is Shader based, but as Cybersox says, the Tan Lines product is, though that might be a separate matter. But for "Wet and Tanned" you should also be able to use V4 and M4 skins.
