Installing the New Daz Update

I decided the new Daz update was a good time to simply reinstall Daz on my computer and change the content folder to other than my C Drive.

Computer has now been "installing" Content Management Service for two days.  Do I need to simply take a break and wait it out, or is something wrong?

it sounds like it froze on you. It shouldn't take any more than 5 minutes for DS to install and even that is a really long time. It installs for me in less than a minute.

As in downloading all your content again in DAZ Studio? Don't know how much content you have to download but I have bought a product, Grass Evolution product that is 1.3GB by itself!

Well I noticed that the Morpheus products I had were unusually slow to download via DIM so Content Manager is likewise probably under an unusual load. You may as well let it continue but on Tuesday after the 4th holday in the US you'd probably best restart DAZ Studio & restart the Content Manager install over. It will start back close to where it got lost last time.

Are you installing your content or DS itself? Are you installing it with DIM or doing it manually?

    Installing manually.

I thought it would simply install a new vers. of Daz, not necessarily all my content, but if it is reconstituting my files from the previous installation of Daz, I could see (with my connection speed) how this could take several days.  I've had games on steam take days to download, and those were only a few gigs.

No, your DAZ Product Content would not automatically install from within DAZ Studio. You have to tell it to install manually. You must have another problem.

When I have internet connection that is unusually slow, I stop the connection & then restart it. Usually it is possible to pause a few minutes and start back and that gets normal speed that you are used to.

You actually sound like you have a failure installing the database portion. I would stop the install, reboot your computer, remove the install, reboot your computer, and then do the install. Do not install as Administrator.

Thanks, I'm going to try that.
Let's see, I started the install the last day of June.  It's now the 4th of July and my computer says it's still installing.   Time to try something else.

I will admit though, part of it was a subconscious desire to take a break from my Daz3d addiction,  and this has been the longest period since I've gotten into it that I didn't open up the program and do something.  Not to mention the longest period that I've haven't gone into the store and bought something.  laugh
