WTHair? IRay materials glow like embers?

This is the Fantasy Hair for Genesis 3, but it's not the only model that does this. What is going on here? Both images were rendered in IRay, just the basic, open up Studio and render settings, with the headlamp and environment. The one on the left is the IRay black material, the one on the right is the 3Delight black material.

What is going on here? Not all IRay hair materials look like this, but several do - what, besides bad material creation, causes it to light up like this? I don't know what to turn off, turn down, invert, erase or whatever, but I'm pretty sure this is not the intended effect. And, yes, it does this for ALL the IRay materials for this hair.

I've seen headlamp plus backscattering weight on the hair cause this.  Either turn the headlamp off or set the backscattering weight on the surface to 0.

I was just rendering this same hair yesterday, in Iray, and it looked fine. However, I have my render settings to "never" use the headlamp, so I'm guessing RobotHeadArt is onto to something.

However, the parameter you want to look at in the Surfaces->Editor to verify material zone(s) are not emitting light is "Emission Color." There really shouldn't be an image map there, but even if there is, as long as the color is black, (0.00, 0.00, 0.00,) emission is turned off.

It does seem to be affected by a light aligned with the camera - I turned off the headlamp and it calmed down, I added a spotlight with the current camera settings, and it popped right back up. Still seems to be a poorly-constructed node - real hair doesn't illuminate with a flash or a ring lamp on your camera. For this hair, at least, I guess I'll use the 3Delight settings - they look fine in IRay.

It's not a poorly constructed node, it's that it's literally physically impossible in the real world to have a light in the exact same spot as the center of the camera lens.

I have also noticed that using Spectral Rendering in the new version causes areas that should be shadowed to light up, so there is definitely a bug there.

Like the under side of the chin? I've noticed that light where it should be dark, too.

As long as I can use other hairs with IRay materials that don't have this bug, I will consider it a poorly-constructed node, regardless of whether it can happen in the real world - if others can make it work, it can work.

As a guess I would say that translucency is in use but theres no texture map (and it should be, usually same texture as in base color ) in the Translucency Color image slot. So it "blows" pure white color.
