How to update to latest version DAZ Studio

Hi -

I use the DAZ Install Manager.  Currently have DAZ Version 4.9.2.70 and wanted to update to new release.

I don't see anything in the DIM about an update - and don't see update option in DAZ Studio menus.

What is the recommended way to update?

Thanks

Make sure you have DS4.5+, Software, and your OS ticked in Download Filters

  • I do have those checked - but still not seeing a new DAZ Studio option.

I tried checking 'public build' also, but that brought up several 2014 and 2015 files related to Carrara - and still no DAZ Studio, so unchecked box.  And still not seeing option to install Studio.

    I'm on a Windows 10, 64 bit system.

Thanks for any help / suggestions.

Try ticking the "Display Hidden" box.  Do they show up under Products rather than Product Updates?

  • Ah- that did it.  I'd unchecked that previously, because it keeps showing a Genesis Generation X file, which was replaced by an updated version.

Downloading now - thank you for the help.

  • Hmm . . . downloaded and have checkbox selected for install after download - but after opening and closing DAZ Studio a couple of times, it has not updated to new version yet (though does show new version as installed in DAZ Install Manager)

Is it possible you have more than one version installed, and the shortcut is pointing to an old version?

  • I guess it's possible and can certainly check if you can tell me how.  When I type 'DAZ' into the search area for Windows 10, it just pulls up DAZ Install Manager and the single DAZ Studio program (version 4.9.2.70)

I keep getting a message that "The content cannot be loaded in this version of DAZ studio. You need to upgrade to version 4.9.4.111 or later."  I thought I DID upgrade.  Where is the upgrade to the new version?

    • Install Manager cannot find a required path. The package for "GoZ for DAZ Studio 4.9+ (Win 32-bit)" requires that the installed path for "DAZ Studio 4.5 (32-bit)" be defined. Make sure that a path for this application is present on the "Applications" page of the "Settings" dialog, then try again.

I keep getting this message when I try to install GoZ.  Is THAT why I can't get 4.9.4.111 to work?

    Getting the same thing

  • Thank God! I thought I was the only one going mad!! My 4.9 Pro went corrupt, so I completely un-installed it, thinking I would download the latest 4.9.4, but kept getting sent to my product page.

Shall I have to re-install my old Daz Pro, or should I wait? But then Genesis 8 asks for 4.9.4.

I guess it's one of those Daz cock-ups that they will expect someone else to fix!!

  • Well, my installation must have gone through at some point - but now I do have DAZ Studio listed twice - the latest 4.9.4 version. found here: C:\Users\Robert\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\DAZ 3D\DAZ Studio 4

And the previous, 4.9.2.70 one listed here: C:\Users\Robert\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4

The older (.70) version, includes  an Uninstall DAZ Studio 4.9 link- but I want to make sure I DON'T inadvertently remove 4.9 entirely, especially since I've spent several hours over the last couple of days re-categorizing my content.

Do those categorizations get stored online with our daz account, or is the re-structuring reflected somewhere in the database?  (Or if I accidentally remove the wrong DAZ Studio, will all of the recategorization simply be lost?)

(Note - both the old (4.9.2.70) and new (4.9.4.117) are using the new categories I've set up - but I'm not clear on whether or not the file they're both referencing would be deleted if DAZ Studio was uninstalled - or if I can safely remove DAZ and reinstall and the categories will still be there)

While I was finally able to download Powerpose Templates, I STILL do not have the powerpose "dots".  I have to do any posing from the menu.
