Got it!!! Thank you!!!!!!!
I got it! Thank you so much!!!!
It's called OOT IrayPair Hair and it's available at Renderosity. Just do a search for "IrayPair" and both the base product and expansion will come up, (along with a bunch of unrelated stuff!) Twenty bucks, each. No need to sell any organs. I have the base, and I use it on almost every hair I render.
ETA: Well, h3ll... I shoulda refreshed the page before doing anything! lol
In that case, go into the parameters for the hair and bump up the resolution by "1"... if it's set to "1", set it to "2", etc.
I'm trying out the OOT shaders and they do make the hair look leaps and bounds better.
But there still must be a ton of post production work going into that image. Flashy Hair is a cool cut but even with the shader, it looks pretty chunky.
I go with Slosh's hair shaders. You can set the transparency and shine, there's three levels for each. There's settings for the top coat, etc.
Surprised they featured a Renderosity character for a Daz page that's prominent. I would think we have enough Daz characters to do one of those.
I also have Slosh's hair shader package, but I find it makes hair look too straw-like for my personal taste. Admittedly, I haven't delved deeply into the package. Maybe If I played with the settings more, I would like it better.
Well $40 is a heck of a lot of money in my house, so that kidney offer is still on the table. LOL
There are options to add shine.
I bought mine at 25% off...
The following week, OOT's store went to 50% off. Not being DAZ, I wasn't able to get a credit for the difference in price.
I'd recommend waiting for a sale, but I see you already bought both products... Kidney, huh?

I've tried both oot shaders and slosh's. I prefer the shaders by oot.
I'm surprised too. And unless I'm reading it wrong, Maryann is a Victoria 4 figure--which would definitely be directing folks to try some older models rather than the Gen3 Daz would like one to buy.
The renderosity page for Maryann says she is Gen 3. I had been trying to find out which model Addy used since i saw the portrait.
I don't think the store really screens that content is made or sold at daz to be used in banner art. There are a fair amount of renders used in banners which contain non-daz content and non-daz rendering engines.
Why anyone should be surprised is beyond me, I doubt DAZ are that petty. The images posted on the main page are more than likely to show what can be done with the app "and" the products, not to promote specific products. Face it, without the DAZ base figures none of the characters would exist. There are also images that have been rendered outside of DS is other renderers that have been showcased.
I love the DAZ MP as much as the next person, but there are other ways to make images, other places to get meshes and other stores.
Yes, you are reading it wrong, Maryann is for genesis 3, says so right there on the product page.
If Addy were to put up a detailed tutorial in the store on how this incredible picture was done, I would buy it!
Yeah, I went back and saw I was wrong. Sorry about the confusion.
Me too and right now.
Normally I do wait for sales, but A) I've been wishing for an OOT hair shader for almost as long as I've been using Daz Studio and B) in my experience, steep discounts at Rendo happen a lot less frequently than here at Daz. The fact that coupons don't even apply for IrayPair makes me think it's not going on sale again any time soon.
It's always irksome when products go on sale right after I've bought them. I actually try to avoid looking at a product's page once I've purchased it, because I don't want to see it at a much lower price than I paid and get all honked off, lol. I've never requested a refund for this, though. The way I look at it, it's like a card game - you win some, you lose some.
True. And I've never regretted the purchase, either. $15 for OOT Iray hair shaders is still a very good deal.
So after chatting with all of you fabulous folks (who gave me a TON of fantastic ideas), y'all gave me enough advice to send me down several paths. I took some tutorials, picked up the OOT Hair Shaders, really dove into lighting and started down the path to trying to get as fabulous as Addy (I want to reach for the stars here even if it's impractical).
This is my attempt. Not quite done but I thought I'd share since I won't be able to get back to it for a couple days. I figure this post will be a bit buried by then.
