How can I make this scene more realistic?

So I have a scene where two men are watching an old film on a projector. I've done my best to make the projection look realistic but some things about it are still "off" to me. Like for instance, shouldn't it sort of distort over the two chairs in front? And how would I accomplish that? Is there some kind of Iray hologram maker I can buy?

There is an iray hologram maker you can buy, though it makes actual holograms for your phone. The easiest way would be to apply the image to a spotlight and have it actually projected from that light. That way you'd get the shadows and distortion you want. I do not know exactly how you do it (just that you can), but that's where I'd start.
That's an interesting idea. I'll give it a shot. Thanks!
Also, vellus and hair on the back of the necks of the male figure. Vellus would light up when in projected light. :)
It already looks cool to me... but I would probably render an image to use as the projected image. Having real images of people next to artificial elements tends to draw too much attention to the artificial elements.
Good luck! :D
the tool that might help you is this one https://www.daz3d.com/marshian-light-projection-system-for-iray
This is exactly what I was looking for, thanks so much!
Thanks also to Mardook and RKane for your suggestions.
glad i could be of help ;)
Thank you Linwelly! msam921- let me know if you have any questions about the product. I feel its fairly easy to use and renders very quickly. Have fun.
Aligning the heads to atleast cast a bit of shdow onto the screen itself will also help with the realism.
Yes, good idea. This reminded me of the promo
Hi Marshian, thanks for dropping in! I bought the product a few days ago and am fiddling with it. My first render has a giant black cone in the scene... pretty sure I did something wrong.
Also, why did none of y'all tell me my blue-jacketed character was hovering in mid-air?! I made one of the chairs invisible for a test and forgot to change it back before rendering my OP. Realized a couple hours later and guffawed. Awesome.
Sure! "Cone of Doom" Ha, I like that. The black cone is the Marshian projector (it has the light and image plane) so you just need to move it out of the scene. Or you can scale it way down to try and hide it behind something. It will still project at a smaller scale.
