Ideas for a good seascape

Hey guys.

I'm looking for some ideas.  I'm trying to come up with a good book cover for a story I wrote.

The idea is a armored vehicle over a brown landscape in the foreground, a cityscape in the background, and a seascape behind it.

The issue I'm having is how to render a good seascape.  Most stuff I've seen in the store is designed to make renders pointing towards the city from the sea, or looking out over small lakes to mountains or hills in the background.  What ideas do you have on how to make a good seascape out to the horizon?

    Photo background. Works best.

Yeah, I looked into that, but most of the good ones are at pay only sites.

I'd rather make one using Daz Studio.  :)

Then you might better try doing this background with Bryce.

You can look at the Google Warehouse for Sketchup. They often have downloadable OBJ and DAE to download and if not you can download an old version of Sketchup and export in the needed format. I think you need version 6 or version 7 if you were to do that.

The Montreal skyline is pretty impressive approaching it from Vermont.

I'd also suggest Bryce,  it's particulalrly good at seascape  and can be used to create a distant background plate for your DazStudio foreground.  VUE is another option.

there's some example renders in the unloved thread   https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/168016/bryce-3d-the-neglected-unloved-program-by-daz/p1

Echoes of Andromeda for Daz Studio (a Daz Original by Predatron) features a standing rock in the foreground with a seascape in the background, and some fog.  You are mainly after the seascape, so you could just lose the rock and pillar props.

It's an older product, and I wasn't able to get the built in lighting working right with Iray (probably doing it wrong), but I swapped out the sky for a Skydome/Terradome sky and all was well.  If notheing else, the textures within the product might give you some ideas.

There are probably a couple of other products as well that feature seascapes.  Like those desert island ones.

There's probably a Skydome/Terradome product that might work for you as well.  Most of those feature land in the background, but there may be one with a 'level' sea-friendly horizon.  Or you may be able to simply 'turn off'' the land in a skydome and use a very large flat plane for the sea (with appropriate water texutes) and then add your land above that plane.  Or if the land has a slope/you tilt it, have the 'sea water' plane intersect with the land.  Of course, you'll probably want some sort of effect where the waves crash against the land, similar to how it looks in the Echoes of Andromeda suggestion I made above.

    Hope this helps!

And Echoes of Andromeda's on sale for between $4.47 and $2.10 depending on whether you're PC+ and if you purchase it with a new item or not.

There's a nice skybox in Easy environments - The Rock

There are ocean scenes in UltraHD IRAY HDRI With DOF - Outdoor Pack 1

Mediterranean Vista and  Breezeway and Balcony have HDRI background

Ocean wide has an ocean and skydomes

    Thanks for the ideas, guys.

Those are a lot of good ones to work with.
