Is there a low res material script?
Hello.
I wanted to know if there is a script that can create low res versions of materials. For instance I load a figure with a high res material but I want this figure in the background so I wouldn't need such huge texture images for that figure. The textures have to be loaded into memory and that needs time. I am looking for a script that would take all textures my selected figure wears and creates low res versions of them, allowing quicker renders of background figures. I know that there are LOD for the meshes of figures but is something similar available for textures to save up ram?
Thank you

2 options I am aware of, one is the IRAY scene optimizer https://www.daz3d.com/scene-optimizer which seems to have an option of reducing texture resolution and a built in way of doing it, the texture atlas which will combine textures on one sheet
Thank you for your reply. Scene-optimizer seems to do the job according to the screenshots in the shop. However do you have any information for me to learn how to reduce the size of materials with this (Edit: WIth the texture atlas)?
I don't have it, just passing on the info I saw on the product page and in the forums
Yeah. Just couldn't figure out how to do it in the material atlas.
But the scene-optimizer looks neat anyhow I might just buy it, thanks for the tip!
I use it all the time now. Faster loading and reduces VRAM loading.
Hi mindphuk-566386ef79, you might want to have a look at this free script in the Daz Freebie forum. It may pay to have a look thru the thread first to see if its what you want and to find the latest script. As it has had some updates and improvements made to it.

Hope it helps, mike
