DAZ export FBX animation to C4D/Marvelous designer

Hey,

I tried some techniques like keyframe t-pose frame #1 then keyframe preset pose frame #30. In DAZ the animation works just fine but when I export my FBX, things are getting distorted AF.  I tried to export FBX 2012/2014 but no luck.

See video here: https://cl.ly/3A0k2C1b1v3y

Any tips? Thanks!

just keep in mind that DAZ has a proprietary rigging system made for DS only, so getting exports with rigging in other apps is next to impossible in my experience. If you are just doing animation, what about the Alembic format?

I have used Collada (.dae) files for getting animated Genesis 3 figures into MD and had no problems, you might want to try that.

  • Indeed, great video here

Kinda sad that the pipeline to use theses characters in other 3D packages is so difficult. Even when I bought clothes from DAZ store and exporting in Collada into C4D the result was atrocious. I'm gonna try to do collada > marvelous > c4d and see how that goes. Most likely my characters will always be naked :(

Kinda the point of having your own software and the tech behind it. You can always get 3D assets with more universal rigging at places like turbosquid. Makes me wonder if DAZ ditched Daz Studio and just sold content if the prices would triple or more to accomodate the new licensing.

  • Well, even simple DAZ to C4D non complex animation just dosent work proprely which is kinda worrisome for professionals.
