OT: Intel Turbo Boost Max Tech...

Hi,

Any way to get rid of this without jumping through hoops?

I did the turn it off through the BIOS but when I boot in I have this annoying error that pops up that some .dll isn't available so it's not all the way gone.  So I went ahead and renabled it via the BIOS.

Intel called me but the tech woman had such a thick Asian accent and spoke so quickly I had no idea what she said, I just couldn't wait to get off of the phone with her.  No offense to our Asian friends here on the DAZ forums.

I did add in DAZ Studio, Photoshop and ZBrush to the Add App button thinking that would keep the annoying popup window at bay upon booting in, but nope.

So if anyone has a way to get rid of this annoying program and it's annoying popup window during booting in I'd be happy to know about what to do.

Thanks so much

Richard

Hey, RAMWolff. There are a couple of possibilities. I don't use a Broadwell CPU, but my understanding of TBM is that there are three requirements for it to work:

    1. A motherboard that supports the technology and the ability to enable it/disable it in the BIOS.

    2. A driver for TBM, and

    3. An application installed that allows the Operating System to manage the technology.

Since disabling the TBM in the BIOS didn't work as expected, I would suspect that your issue lies with the the driver and/or the application (and my first suspect would be the latter, since the error that you received was related to a .dll). If you really wish to permanently disable the technology, I would uninstall the associated application from Control Panel. With the application gone and the TBM disabled in the BIOS the existence of the driver shouldn't then matter as it shouldn't be called. You may need to check msconfig to ensure the application isn't still listed in startup programs, either removing it or disabling it if it is. Since the former involves editing the registry, you can check back for instructions if you need or want to do that.

Def not listed in the StartUp folder from what I can see.  Do you think it may have an entry under the Services area?  Not sure what to look for, perhaps under Intel!

OK, found it under Services.  I've disabled it so we shall see on the next boot up!

Yea, under services it's disabled but still starts up during the boot up process!  WTF?  LOL

Yes, but you missed a step, RAMWolff. In my earlier post I mentioned uninstalling the application through the Control Panel. Since the application is still installed, the service will resume with each bootup. So, unistall the Intel Turbo Boost Technology application and that should be the end of it. If you ever want it back, you only need to download it from Intel and re-install.

    Hi,

I did figure it out and it's gone now.  I uninstalled it, used Revo Uninstaller to find all instances and bits from it, deleted those and then rebooted, went into the BIOS and disabled it there as well and no more Turbo Boost.  Weirdly enough, my computer boots really fast now.  Go figure!  lmao

That's not altogether surprising, since it isn't loading all that junk at startup. Glad to hear you got it sorted.
