Software for Texturing?

I have been tinkering with Photoshop for a couple of years now, its pretty much my go to program except for textering. When ever I open a 4096X4096 Texture in Photoshop it cuts a pixle off of one of the sides, completely throwing the center off.

I would like to know, apart from black smith 3d, what is a good software to creatre textures for M4 V4 for example?

That sounds like odd behavior for photoshop.

I always do a center to page after placing a texture.  That solves the shift problem

  • you can open a new document 4096x4096 and then go to file> place> and open your document/ picture , and it should be placed nicely

It does the same thing when I use the place feature

That sounds like odd behavior, especially for a paid program. I use Paint.NET, which is free. Others have said good things about Gimp, but I don't care for the interface and layout. Gimp is free and can use some photoshop brushes(I think that's what they are called).

I'm using Substance Painter, and loving it.
