dazstudio, poser, iclone 7

where remains studio vs poser against iclone?
seems iclone is still eating the old 2 one's more and more.
as iclone get the improvements where the others evoluate to slow or totally not move on.

helow?

I think iclone serves a different function than DS or Poser. Someone, for instance, that doesn't do animations likely wouldn't want iclone at all since it's geared primarily toward animation. Even tho there are a lot of people who use DS and/or Poser to do animations, the bulk of users I think are still doing stills. Two different animals. Also, iclone is a larger investment, at least in the short term, than either DS or Poser.

  • iClone by itself is dependent on other tools, whereas DAZ Studio and Poser have the ability to generate models to animate built in. And, to be honest, the big thing that Reallusion is touting for iClone 7 seems to be the same thing that Poser and DS have been doing for several years now; PBR Rendering.

I am planning to purchase IClone7, when its out. I might wait for some reviews though. Iclone looks tempting and will be my replacement for Poser. Personally, I consider Poser as dead by now. I hope to still have some side to side workflow with DazStudio. DS is still an adventure and I am very curious to see further developments. DS could be my stills app, Iclone my animation tool.

yeah 'm pretty sure, poser is a dead end route, i don't invest anymore $ to it. (hope 'm wrong about studio, bad feeling but probably just me). don't forget to go with 3dXchange for daz conversions to iclone and after that you can go to unreal, unity whatever you want to import it ;c) 'm watching to the new iclone with open eyes this time and even 3dcoat update soon seems promising.

  • The price slows me down every time. Also, I can't find if they are still using the Indigo render engine in 7.

Yup, but I am hoping to catch a good time for a sale.

  • It is discounted now $140 - $149 off (depending on what you're buying), but still too pricey for me for the whole package.

    I am an animator.
Poser has not effectively updated its animation tools since the late 1990's... it is DEAD to me... but it is also Dead as a platform for figure content development

I use IClone Daz Studio & Natural Motion Endorphin for My Character animation work
Iclone now ships with the free Character Creator App so it can generate a variety of characters internally also.
We animators care more about nonlinear motion generaiion/mixing tools than PBR rendering  for stills.

With GraphMate, keyMate& aniMate 2, Daz studio is Now a better option for Character animation than Poser IMHO.

I agree that animation needs an injection. I like the easy of animation in iclone, but am held back by the render quality. If we could get realtime rendering into daz, it would be a serious contender to iclone. But the keyframe situation really holds daz studio back too.

The feature that Daz lacks the most is a functional IK solver and Foot &Hand Contact feature like the one in Iclone
Also All previous generation  aniblocks are usesless with G3 without
running a conversion script  from G2  to G3 and resaving a G3 only aniblock.

Still for the free price of DS and the cost of animate 2,keymate,graphmate plugins,
Daz is a good value to start.

Working in Daz Studio is generally a pleasure from a workflow standpoint. It draws me back everytime. Wolf is right; it is amazing to have such great functionality in free software. I thiink it is a good business model for everyone to have the revenue center on the content.

Hm, i found only this in the FAQ:

Will the current iClone 6 plug-ins and services, be compatible with iClone 7?

The current iClone 6's plug-ins and services will be compatible with iClone 7 (official launch version). You will simply need to update some of them.

    Below is the list:
    - Character Creator 2
    - 3DXchange 7
    - CrazyTalk Pipeline 8
    - popVideo 3
    - Perception Neuron Mocap Plug-in
    - Kinect Mocap Plug-in for XBox One
    - Avatar Toolkit Plug-in
    - Substance Designer 5
    - Indigo Render Plug-in (limited to iClone 6 features)

But what is limited to iClone 6 features :)

What drew me to iclone was the ability to move my daz and poser content to iclone via exchange and the ability to animate with directx in realtime, pbr rendering is something I just do for stills so it is daz iray only. I like iclone just not their weird purchasing system for content (this keeps me from buying their content). Consequently 3dExchange got me onboard and the bundle sale here helped alot too ; )
