They compliment each other, you can key with KeyMate them smooth the animations out using GraphMate.
  • You need both.

I agree, you need both to do animations.

I have a little experience using Daz for animation ,maybe this will help? I use both keymate and graphmate , But as a reminder. In order to use either graphmate or keymate plugin you should get animate2 first.   I recommend using both key& graphmate plugns for a more redefined animation and easy of timeline editing.. But if I had to choose one plugin over the other, i would buy keymate.  Reason being, Animate 2 already has a graph editor built into it much like graphmate works. ,   where as keymate allows you to break each keyframe down to its individual component of the keyframe in the aniblock your working on along the animate2 timeline. its a much better tool for editing aniblocks ,Graphmate is more useful if you need to bend or create a motion curve.

I have Animate 2, Keymate and Graphmate and I'd say that I have not used Animate 2 aniblocks since I moved on from V4 (I believe they don't work too well with Genesis generations). I use Keymate rather than the DAZ timeline as I feel I have a lot more control. I can't seem to get the hang of Graphmate so I usually tweak the pose in the keyframe. I know I should practise more with Graphmate but then I don't do much animation.

I don't know what happened to GoFigure but their website seems to sit there un-manned like a cyber-world Marie Celeste. So don't expect much support from the makers.

It's the differences between generations that cause the problems. Later aniBlocks, from say PA Posermocap, work fine. GoFigure was supposedly working on an update several months ago, but I've heard nothing since it was mentioned in a DAZ training video.  There's nothing stopping you from making your own aniBlocks.
