Hi AndyS
Everything you see in the product is included, there are no outside assets at all.
The skies (which are originally in my Iray Skydome) (2 of them) are availble in this product
There is not a single thing..Trees, Skies, flowers plants etc...etc... that is not in included, in fact the renders
are exactly as you will see them inside DS.with Iray.
Cheers
This is a really beautiful set, I love it. It will make a great setting for all sorts of things and that night sky with the lovely moon will be ideal for night scenes. I'm not sure my graphics card with only 4GB of video Ram will be able to cope with it but I'll probably give it a try.
Thank you, Magix.
I only asked, because most of your collegues use tons of further products in the promos without listing them.
As I tried to publish a product, I was strictly requested to name every additional product I used for my promos. Are there two different classes of vendors in this shop?
HI AndyS
Yep I understand what you were asking, for Daz's part they do ask any vendor to list any other products used in the promo images.
But yeah many vendors dont do that...I am not sure of the reason really.
But personally I feel its best to list any extra products used in promo images, and say ..[not included] or something along those lines.
As I have built WorldBases for many years, I usually provide everything in the product, as in the case of Secret Valley...even all the lighting, Sun,Skylight, Illuminating spheres, skys, ground...you name it etc..are included.
I am glad you brought it up tho, cause I will look at my product release blurb and make sure that I have stated that very clearly.
Cheers
AndyS - just for the record (not applicable in the case of this glorious product though), if you see a product that lists "Daz Original" as one of the artists chances are very good (we're talking like at least 95%) that the promo images were rendered by Daz' in-house promo artist(s). They never list what they've used. I've even had products where I've spent a week rendering very nice promos and listed all the extra products used, sold it to Daz, they tossed my promos and had the in-house person make new ones, then didn't remove the list of used products so they were completely wrong, which is even worse. Just saying, please check before you go on a rant... the person's name listed next to "Daz Original" has no say in the matter.
Magix101's product are fricken amazing.. just sayin'
Hi Fisty
Thanks very much for the feedback on my products...sometimes when you spend moths and weeks on products you tend to lose sight on wether it has any appeal or not, so hearing that people actually like them is very encouraging...so thanks heaps.
Your info on promo images and non listing of extra products relating to products that Daz has bought is actually very informative, I never knew that.
Some of the in house renderers for Daz are very good actually, but as you say if a vendor creates somthing and sells it to daz so it becomes a Daz product, then the original artist no longer has any say over whats listed or not, how it is presented etc..
That explains a lot.
Cheers
.
This is gorgeous!
Thanks Sonja
Thanks for testing this...Yay! Can't wait to try.
I've been unable to explain to myself why I've had 'Into The Valley' by The Skids as an earworm for days, even though it must be a couple of years since I last heard it. I looked at the title of this thread this morning and suddenly it all began to fall into place :) Lovely product though, probably your best yet. I expect it will be keeping some of your others company on my hard drive very soon :)
Yep I hope all goes well in testing (its been tested now) it hopefully will cause I have checked and triple checked it over and over.
But yeah my Nvidia 970 GX appears to be very faulty, it recently died and although I eventually got it back up, it keeps blacking out, makes the computer more or less unusable.
Sigh....Such is life
Secret Valley is in the market place now after there were a few minor holdups with initial testing.
Argh wrong time of the month to publish such a beautiful set. It looks absolutely stunning.
Now I need to go bang my head against the wall and hope for The End of MM catch- up sale this weekend so I can get it.
Hi Ferretmania
Thanks for the feedback and info...I take it you mean that people have already bought what they want to buy during the earlier part of April.
I have no real control over release dates unfortuntately, the marketing decides that, (I did ask them thru Kevin to do it at a good time, but maybe as the month was running out it was not great time, it was also a mid week release too)
I will say that the last 2 release dates have been pretty bad timing.
The previous one was on election night in the US, so yeah all my hard work pretty much goes up in smoke, pretty disheartening and discouraging to say the least.
Sometimes you wonder if its worth the time and effort it takes to make a product like this, when this happens....Oh well (sigh)
Don't get discouraged Magix, they will be good back catalog items.
If it helps any, your previews of this prompted me to buy the Iray Worlds and the Expansion and I love them so much now.
Hi Magix.
I agree with Fisty. Don't get discouraged , sometimes release dates just don't play nice and I was blaming myself for not remembering about this coming out, so I had saved money for it.
I do hope you get a lot of sales , I'm definitely going to get this as soon as I can 'cause I love your work.
I have your Iray Worlds and use them frequently. They are beautiful and renders pretty fast (and I don't have the fastest computers to render on) .
Hi Fisty, Dreamfarmer and Ferretmania
Thanks so much for the encouragement...I really appreciate it, sometimes you spend so much time developing products you feel like you are in a bit of a vortex.
So its really nice to speak to and hear feedback from other developers and users at Daz, it honestly makes such a difference.
I was just having a bit of a moment, actually Kevin has always been very helpful, and I have no real gripes at Daz, I know they are very busy trying to coordinate so many things, so my expectations are not too high in terms of these things.
But occassionaly things happen that are a bit disappointing and getting this feedback is very re assuring. so thanks very much.
I also am a musician composer as well so I tend to spend hundreds of hours developing tracks as well, so sometimes I get a little over focused in the sense that so many hours are spent tuning and fine tuning things both in music and also in 3d, so it really helps to hear other people opinions and feedback.
Cheers
Just to let you know I grabbed it! It's just so beautiful and there's something about a fence that's higher than you are. I don't know what it is---mysterious strangers walking by who can't see you perhaps. Anyway, it will probably be a little while before I get another chance to play but am looking forward to it for sure.
Just picked this up with a huge discount. Can't wait to play with this beautiful set
I bought this set and so far I have done one render with it. I really like the result. I was a bit unsure of how my computer would take it but I took one of the night scenes, added Genesis 3 Male and Female figures with fantasy morphs and textures, some skimpy clothes and a boat. GPU-Z said I was close to the limit but it rendered on the GPU of my 4 GByte Graphics card. I have also picked some of your buldings in the sale.
Thank you for making such beautiful sets.
I totally understand the frustration but I hope you know that many of us, even if we can't purchase on release, pick things up at a later date. I have been steadily purchasing your stuff as I can since I started and am building up a lovely catalog of your items. So please don't be too discouraged, lots of us just have to space things out a bit in our spending.
Been there. I had a product last year that came out just after the PA and PC+ sales, and the day after a major Stonemason. And of course I really needed it to do well because the previous set had been a flop. That was a perfect storm of bad karma and broke punters: it sank like a rock.
Fortunately it's picking up as a back catalogue item.
Hurrah for back catalogue!
I personally, like the back catologs. There is just no way I can buy everything I want right away. The back catalog allows me to still pick up stuff that I want when I can afford it. And it really does depend a lot on when it comes out. I have some vendors where I have darn near all of their catalog wish listed. I then buy whenever I can.
This was a no-brainer; I'm now combing my runtime to see what wildlife I can add in!
Magix - If it's any consolation.. I just checked my library.
I joined Daz in November of 2004 and thus far, not counting Daz-O's (that I got for free or really cheap) I own 5 sets by Stonemason, 4 sets by Faveral, and 3 by you... and all of yours more recently purchased and more often used. Actually, last time I loaded up one of my Faveral things it was to showcase your Iray Worlds, it needed a boat. LOL I actually buy very little content anymore, just things I feel could be useful in promos or that I really really like and can't overcome the "oooo shiny" reflex with. You and OOT (for his gorgeous hair) have gotten the majority of my money in the last year.
Hey Magix- I just ran through the V3 part of your store and grabbed a bunch of awesome stuff. Yeah, it's older but still GREAT. I'm having fun doing a Generation 3 Revival Project (bringing the old stuff into Iray.) You have some lovely items for her. Can't wait to play more! So don't count out that back catalogue! You never know when those items are just what someone else is looking for.
Thanks all you guys...I just appreciate your feedback so much!!
I have always tried hard to make stuff thats usable and has rthe right amount of detail.
Its often hard to strike that balance, for example when the Secret valley started going towards 3 mill polys I began worrying about it.
But somehow it still seemed to work quite well in terms of moving around in it, however I decided to add a lot of camera views anyway,
so this can be done quickly from any angle (camera view) without all the fuss that you can get in reasonably hi poly scenes.
In doing this I ran into all kinds off problems with many of the new things I tried out in this set.
So its kind of a exploratory product in the way it combines the hidden light dome and spheres and loads of camera angles etc..
But I learnt a lot that will help me build even better future products that utilize what Iray now offers.
So the feedback is really making me feel that it was all worthwhile, I really appreciate it, thanks so much to you all.
Also the reminder about back catalogues is easy to forget and that feedback is very important too.
And what magic
do I need to use to set up additional cameras for posing and such - and not have them go away if I decide to use one of your pre-defined cameras? I'm missing something somewhere.
Hi Namffuak
Just select the main camera in the scene. (called FilmCam)
Go to the folder "Cameras"...its the first folder in the Secret Valley main folder, inside that you will see
15 (I think from memory) Camera Icons.
Click on anyone and you will get a different Camera View of the scene, there are minor adjustments in the Camera
settings as well as the camera postions, I think the last 3 have DOF (Depth of Field) for example.
Hope this helps
Cheers
