Genesis 3 Female Face variations
in The Commons
Hey folks,
This is not mean to be a complaint. More a personal obversation... why are the Genesis 3 Female characters all so similar looking?
Disclaimer: I have painted with a broad brush with this statement, and I am in awe of character developers.
It just seems to me that earlier models eg. V4 had far more unique characters, particularly faces. Is this just me? Would be interested to know other peoples thoughts, and again - I do not wish to offend anyone :)

I don't know, but there's one vendor on here, where literally EVERY model and variation they sell looks the same...
Maybe that person has an ideal or possible obsesssion with a certain look.
There are a few that have very different head shapes, but I don't know if they always sell.
Might be US limiting the vendor.
Who says unique characters sell?
Good observation.
Simple fix, use the DAZ or addon face morphs to change things to your liking. When I buy a character the first thing I look at is the skin, then the details if any such as HD, skin variations, etc. Then I look at the face morph. if I am looking for something unique I use the Simtenero Randomizer https://www.daz3d.com/simtenero-randomizer and create a unique face that fits to my project and the skin I plan to use, it's all part of the creative process IMO
I hear you. I think I know the one! The artist Blackhearted on Renderosity has a character GND 4.3 - she is outstanding and unique (sorry I am not sure what the policies are on here when mentioning product on other sites but wanted to give an example). I just haven't seen anything as good for G2/G3. I really like Dan for for the G3 male, he renders beautifully.
LoL.

Still, if you can sell the same base model with minor (and I mean minor) morphs, and people are still buying it, all I can do is raise my glass and say "SALUT".
You have to admit, that model does have a killer body though.
Fair call. I am just surprised at the amount of similar base products that's all. I admit I am very lazy when it comes to customising characters, I think its a patience (lack of) thing.
Yes that randomizer looks quite interesting! That might help a lot!
I reckon there are of lot of people (myself included) that are suckers for good promo images. Some of the better product have promo images from 1980!! Haha.
I love the SimTenero Randomizer. You can add as little or as many morphs to the list as you want to - so you can get subtle differences or BIG differences depending on how many morphs you add and how many "extreme" character shapes you add to the list.
Much of the fun of this hobby is creating my own body shapes and faces. That's why I buy so few characters and so many morphing add-ons. There are some that tempt me though - Saiyaness makes some great looking "ordinary" people and there's George, of course.
Often, however, dialling-in custom shapes makes clothing difficult to fit or facial expressions just look wierd. I'm aware that don't know enough about JCMs/PCMs/Weight Mapping, etc to be able to fix those things.
I also bought https://www.daz3d.com/ultragenesis-faces-of-g for next to nothing (less than $1) last week so if it appears in the catch-up, I recommend grabbing it.
I do this also. The randomizer might get you from 50-85% of the way there and then you can tweak to your heart's delight ;) Might even give you exactly what you're after, if you're lucky.

Many good tips, glad I posted :)
Sometimes dialing in percentages of other characters gives you a whole different look as well. If I want to make a face a little softer I might add a Thorne character for larger eyes or P3D for pouty lip. I think each artist has a particular style and I love to mix and match faces and bodies to come up with something different.
That is the beauty of the latest DAZ tech, and with addons like GenX you can transfer any V4, genesis, genesis 2 morph to the latest genesis 3 figure, so in most cases there is little need to rely on vendors or go without what you want.
My long time fav face morph is Bianca for V4 and I have used her face on all generations of figures up to the latest
Ok you've got my attention - how do I transfer any V4 to the G3 figure? Sorry... that went over my head!
here is some reading for you https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/94881/genx2-update-genesis-3-add-on-commercial#latest
Basically GenX is an app that lets you transfer morphs from figure to figure
Thank you! I shall pour a glass of wine shortly and read :)
To transfer morphs to Genesis 3 you have to have all three of these products:
https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x2
https://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-2
https://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-3
Back to the original point, I think you'll agree that this face doesn't look similar to the rest. I'm just showing what can be done with a few morphs and mixing of characters. Here I used Zev0's Ageing Morphs and a mixture of G3F characters including one of these: https://www.daz3d.com/ultragenesis-faces-of-g
Also If you have the randomizer, get this https://www.daz3d.com/200-plus-head-face-morphs-for-genesis-3-female-s, or just use that morph package.
was thinking a lot of the michael/g3m characters were a lot alike but there's some really unique ones coming out now same with Vicky7/g3f and they have real character personality in their features of course I have bought many that many may say look a lot alike then again many look different can see the differences once you own them
There are some vendors who I won't mention who I tend to avoid because either all their characters look nearly exactly alike OR because their textures look too painted and/or lack detail. I also like hires morphs when I can get them, so some vendors I gravitate to more than others ;). As for little variation in faces, as to what I've bought that did NOT come in a pro bundle, I think I have a very broad range of differences. I really try not to duplicate features if I can help it. That might be why I don't have a huge amount of characters, but what I do have are very diverse ;) I really like kayleyss, Saiyaness and Raiya for morphs...I think those vendors do an excellent job with hires morphs (and textures too).
I also think it's worth it to mention that the vendors I mentioned do their own morphing and not just dial spins of existing morphs ;).
