Anyone here doing Camp NaNoWriMo? and if so, are you going to use 3D art to help inspire your writing?

Comments
I *should*
But I've been kinda distracted by finishing off my current set, and planning the next one (which - fortunately - also counts as world building for my next book series. It'll be <cough> set in space)
No title yet (don't even have a name or gender for the hero/heroine), but it'll be rookie cop v pirates somewhere in the SSS - Sub Surface Scattering Society of Sentient Species
Fortunately the set is now done bar the icons and a few killer renders, which means I don't have any spare CPU for writing yet, but hey, I have a notebook and biro . . . Maybe I should get a new wiriting Macbook. Or iPad Pro (they both cost around the same by the time they're kitted out, & both will run Scrivener. Choices...
I already started my story but it is so hard to keep from writing on it until April 1rst
I haven't really thought about it, to be honest. Too many ideas competing for the cranium as it is (glares at Rodimus and his "little ones" (yeah, I do Transformers Fan Fiction stuff; what's it to ya?)).
Yes, I'm doing it, and love it. I wrote three books back to back last summer, one of them during July's Camp Nano. One book (Unlucky Charm) is already out. Another (Kat & Mouse) is my editing project for Camp Nano. The third probably won't get done till next year. And yes, I use 3D art a lot to help me visualize characters and scenes. I used it to create the cover of Unlucky Charm. Working on the cover for Kat & Mouse now, and redoing my first novel's cover with 3D as well.
Many PAs and DAZ artists have inspired my writing. Some of ShibaShake's art inspired one of the books in my Black Kat series. Two of Redz's characters inspired books of their own. So did one of SAV's. I get ideas all the time from browsing the 3D stores, galleries, and playing in DAZ and Poser. Love it!
I'm toying with it. As usual, April's a bit of a mess, schedule wise (Easter is expected, Tech Week overlapping Easter Weekend isn't) but unlike November, where Tech Week and the First week of November overlap, so I can't get any real momentum, the Spring show is in late April, so I might be able to get something going.
I just don't know what. Too many options, and if I don't start with a road map, I will fail.
I wasn't going to but @Llynara was talking about it and I haven't worked on my current book in about a month so I really need some motivation. I decided to jump in. I'll be doing a new project that I've been world building for about 2 years now while I've been working on my other book. I plan to start that book and finish my revisions of my first book. And, yes, I'll be doing some stuff in DS to help me visualize my story. I set up a new project in Scrivener last night. I'll be working on putting all of my notes together in the new template that I created for it based on how I like to do things now that I know what I'm doing in Scrivener tonight. I might redo some renders of my characters. I did them when I first started using DS and they are as good as they could be. I'll pull together some quick headshots of my characters.
I plan to stay out of the forums until I hit my word count each day! So, we'll see how I manage to do with that. :) I might even, gasp! go to bed early and get up early to write.
I've always wanted to join in, but I always get writers block by the third day :(
I'm not doing it now, but I did the "regular" (?) one in November. I wrote two shorter books then, one is already out, the other is coming out in a few weeks. With DazStudio covers, of course. :)
They've changed the rules slightly
This year I was planning on rendering, because I render so little and then writing a short story to match it. If anyone wants to join my cabin let me know!
I made an appearance last year then stepped away and never made it back. This year looks like the same might happen if I started so decided just to skip it for now.
I like to work alongside other writers but somehow formal nanowrimos rarely work out for me. Too slow, I think. I am, I mean.
Okay, I set up a project for April. It's the project I was going to be working on in April anyway, and renders are going to be part of it, since I know none of the provided artwork will do. Two community resources for the all new Explorer's Society for 7th Sea 2nd ed. :) (Like the DM's Guild for D&D 5th(?), but for the new edition of 7th Sea)
Not sure what I want to do about a cabin. The forums on NaNo haven't been very useful for inspiration the past couple of years.
Knittingmommy and I are in a cabin. It's pretty full but I think there are still a couple of slots. If you PM one of us your username over there, we can have the cabin leader send you an invite.
I had never heard of it before, I joined, but not sure how much writing I will get done. Sort of obsessed with learning this 3d program, lol
Yes, it's distracting! I've spent most of my writing time for the past two months in the DAZ store. That's why the timing of April Camp Nano is good. Done with March Madness, writing first, then playing with new toys!
@deathbycanon Check your sitemail over at CampNano. An invite has been sent. Come on in and join the fun!
OMG! I broke it and got kicked out of camp already!!!!! lol
I logged in and got the camp invite, clicked join and read the message board, then was checking out the other members profiles. I used the back button on my browser to return to the camp page and the join group thing popped up again - I made sure it was still the right group, and clicked the join button again - thinking maybe I had missed something the 1st time, but I got a campnanowimo error page, so I went back to my camp home page, and it says I have not set up my cabin preferences..... So I'm pretty sure I got kicked out of camp already, and I don't know how to get back there. lol
This should really count towards my writing time. :D
LOL we can send you another invite- just let us know. It's okay, that counts as words!
Right now I'm looking up Shakespearean insults for my illusionist to hurl at his friends in the Prologue. He's a bit of a crusty ol' chap!
I got in! While I was trying to get in I decided what story I'm going to work on. I turned my seldom used laptop on, because that's where the story is.....Windows updates.....OK....30 minutes later.... Failure to configure windows updates, reverting your changes.... That's been going on for at least another 30 minutes.
PA's should totally have me do testing for them..... anything digital, I can break it! :)
LOL Welcome back!
My heroine created in DS. I created by mixing three G2F figures to get the look I wanted then tweaked her nose and jaw just a little. I'm using her headshot as my avatar for the month of April, too. I'll also be doing a render of the hero and a mockup of a cover until I figure out the real cover.
She looks great! The lighting especially is very good!
Thanks! :)
Nice render.
I'm going to have to find some ethnic face morphs for my new heroine - Summer Moon - turns out she has Comanche-Mexican in her ancestry.
Appreciate any suggestions, preferably for Genesis 2.
Haven't managed a huge amount of writing, what with getting my next set into QA etc. But now the pressure's easing up slightly, I expect to do more.
Anyhow, here's a test render of my two primaries, Summer Moon and Danny Lockwood.
I went to Genesis 3 in the end. primary consideration was on finding uniforms that (a) weren't skimpware or just plain silly, and (b) came in both male and female versions. That reduced it to - frankly - not very many. https://www.daz3d.com/interstellar-patrol-for-genesis-3-females and https://www.daz3d.com/interstellar-patrol-for-genesis-3-males fit the roles (and the fact they were each under a fiver was an added bonus!) The female is a V8 stand-in, but will eventually be https://www.daz3d.com/anicinabe-for-genesis-3-female Male is Dante 7.
They look good. Tango! Good choice on the uniform. I think it's great for futuristic/sci fi stuff.
My characters are across all of the generations. I don't have any Generation 3's in there yet but may soon as I've been working with them a lot. There are Gen 4's on my first book cover and on the redo I'm working on. My next cover has a G2M on it. Black Kat is a G3F. And there's a few Genesis people in the mix across both series. Sometimes there's no help for it. I tried to convert Hugh, my stubborn Briitish illusionist into a G3M. He refused. He also refuses to wear anything but The Marquis for M4. He does get a supersuit in the next book but he insists on hiding it with illusions. Whatever, Hugh. Yes, I argue with my people, even when it comes to their clothing choices!
Yeah, the only thing the uniforms lack (and it seems to be common to all "sci fi" outfits) is a place to put rank & service flashes. I also want to ding up those helmets before I go too far (and add name / service decals). Think I might yellow tint the visors too - they only come with black & clear presets.
