Daz Login Not Secure?

I just noticed this the other day in Firefox.  It's new to me and I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed it?  Did something change on Daz's end?  I also notice that the 'lock' beside the URL in the address bar is no longer showing as secure, but has the red slash through it.

I think it's on Firefox and Google's end. There was a report on Google not recognizing some certificates as of late due to changes they are implementing. I've been seing it happen with other sites for a while now.

  • The forums aren't yet all transferred over to the https protocol, although if you click on the forum link along the top you will be until you navigate away from the main forum page. And yes, it's new as of Firefox 51-52.

If you login at https://www.daz3d.com/ instead of http://www.daz3d.com/ it should be secure.

Yeah, the store itself shows as secure, just the forum.  Guess I'll wait and see what happens.

If you are not seeing https when you log into the forums  you need to log out, clear your browser cache, possibly even kill your Daz cookies and then log in again, on the front page, where you log in to both softwares simulateously, Magento for the store side and Vanilla for the forums.

Im no longer seeing this as of last nights update.

  • I just noticed it today, but that is when trying to log in (the little right-hand box) on the home page. BUT if you click on that Login button (in the little right-hand box) without putting in any login credentials, it will take you to a secure login page where you can then log in.

I usually can't post if the forum is http, in that case I just add an s to the http in the address field and hit enter, then it shifts to https (IE11, not sure if this works in other browsers).

Ah, I see.  My bookmark was just http:\\.  I changed it to https:\\ and it's all good.  Excellent.  Thanks all.  Now the NSA will have to spend an extra 5 minutes to get my info!!  yes laugh

I have a problem: even if I log in from the https (secure) forum site, whenever I click on one topic, I will be given the http (insecure) one instead. Anyone knows why?

Log in from the Home page rather than from the forum.

Jumping from the secure homepage to the secure forum is no problem. However, even if I click "The Common", I will be redirected to the insecure "The Common" forum instead of the secure one. Even if I add https:// in front of the forum, clicking on any topic will direct me to the http:// version of the topic. Is it because I'm using FF?

    hmm     We will report this.

I get a similar warning to this site on both the newest Chrome & the newest Firefox. It states parts of the page are not secure, such as images, and therefore information such as credit cards, passwords, and usernames can be stolen. I think to get rid of the warnings even the gallery, avators, and forum images served must be served secure.

It looks like the server side hasn't been configured that all internal links need to be secure connections. At the daz3d.com/forums level, everything is https, but as soon as you click on anything, it degrades to plain http.

    There, fixed. At least mostly.

There are a lot of images embedded in the threads that aren't https, so your browser may or may not still complain about the login when you are directly looking at a thread. So for all of you all, if you have links/images in your "signature" at the bottom of your post, now's the time to update them and when you post new images/links, be sure to use the https version and not the http version.

So if using an image stored on ones own computer how does one make certain that it is an https version in the signature bar?  Will adding an s in the source code for the sig bar fix it?

There is no way without buying a secure certificate. They cost money but even I can buy one at $4 a month although I am using a commercial web hosting service to serve everything on my web page, And well $4 is $48 a year  - not free and even my government ID is cheaper and more secure, not that being proactively in securing your business or personal identity is a bad thing but who ever thought it would cost money to do such a thing???!!!. That is 2 PC+ items a month or a 13 serving bag of frozen vegetable or 2.5 lbs of dried beans, enough for 32 servings, LOL. Everything served from DAZ's servers themselves can be made secure though which I thing is done now.

Personally I will shop in one browser and do forum type stuff in another browser, since it's my forum browser habits that contain links that can lead my to questionable sites via my wandering curiosity.

OK  I have sorted my banner image out.  Totte had a play around as well and eventually you can get images which are held on the Daz servers to pick up the https. clearing cache if it doesn't work first time seems to sort it out.
