Just a small heads up on the next gen so to speak of SSD's.. The Intel Optane SSD with 3D Xpoint Technology, currently are due to come out in with a Datacentre version first halt this year with consumer versions coming later this year and next year..
Now you may ask what is so good about these new SSD's well according to this video
apart from being very fast supposedly even faster than current SSD's, and if you look at the 4.18 and on there is some very interesting info on how you can supposedly combine the SSD with system ram..
Very exciting times indeed.. :)

Samsung has 3D SSD which is supposed to be faster...it is almost fast as old fashioned RAM already just about. It's hard to get used to used a read HDD after getting used to SSD.
At any rate the price needs to come down to made HDD prices as you know SSD cost a lot less money in man-power to manufacture and test, a lot less materiels to use in manufacture, and lot less in warrantee replacements.
But its new, so they charge more. And dont forget its shiney too.
But yes, faster SSDs is good. I too wish I could get a 4TB SSD for the same price as a 4TB HDD. Had to change my C Drive on this box from an SSD to a regular HDD and is it ever slow booting.
ps, had to swap the SSD for the HDD cause of how Grub in Linux handles HDDs by default. It can cause your system to freeze up, and did multiple times for me. I was not willing to edit Grub so I just poped in another drive instead.
I guess we should take heart in the probability that within 5 years the prices will be equal or dare say I HDDs will cost more because they'll only be in use by businesses and government with legacy demands.
I don't need 4TB yet but if video cards & CPUs & SW keep improving where I can create animations more easily maybe that won't be enough. They have 4TB external USB HDD for $120!
