Just sayin'
CPU-only here with an i3 PC that's over 5yo, and it looks like it will continue to be true for longer than I hoped for various reasons. I will purchase iRay-only on occassion depending on many factors.
Today I took a pass and only got the freebie. Not the first time and won't be the last.
To each his own, of course, but I'm getting increasingly disappointed by the lack of 3Delight support and I know what the responses will be already. With 447 pages in my product library, no one could say I don't support DAZ. It's just getting harder and harder.

Indeed... Iray is the new shiny toy, sadly... If Daz ever drops 3Dlight as a render engine and goes iray only, well, they'll lose me as a customer...
Well there is a freebie script that converts Iray surfaces to 3dl and that along with Marshian's new RR3 lighting product can do quite a nice job on Iray only products. But I get what you are saying and I am much more likely to purchase new content that supports both 3dl and iray than iray only myself.
It's wise, I think, to have more than one renderer. But it's also wise to support both. If one should go away for any reason, you should be able to depend on the other. We all want the fastest processor we can manage, but not all want to spend even hundreds more on a graphics chip manufactured by only one company.
I have both and have used the script. I'm not sure Marshian's Reflective Radiance works with 4.8, the Small World Camera doesn't, and I haven't had the time to try it.
I haven't heard definitely yet (or missed it) whether it works in 4.8.
They've said it does. There's some test renders in the commercial thread, I think.
For me it doesn't matter if it's iRay only or 3DL only; if I like the model then I am buying and then I will convert to iRay if necessary. I haven't used 3DL since iRay came out.
Oh! Thanks!
Daz3D still supports the 3Delight render engine and so do a lot of PAs. The fact that todays being all Iray except the freebie is just a coincidence. When it comes to PA owned products (non Daz Originals) it is up to each PA as to what programs and render engines they support. That is dependant on each PAs skill set and experiance as well. It also depends on the type of product too.
Assuming I have the right day, they were not all Iray only. I am in the same situation you are in regarding budget, hardware, and iray shaders, so I look very closely when something I am interested in is released. The two hair styles, SatyrnHair and Fawna Hair both state the include 3Delight shaders. You have to look harder for Fawna and Satyrn, but if you look at the last entry for Skin Options, it says they include 3Delight shader presets. Hopefully that is accurate.
Honestly, I usually change a lot of default textures to something else anyway, so going from 3D to Iray...or Poser to Iray...or iray to 3D...isn't a big deal.
(That said, I'm doing some work for a PA, converting old poser products into Daz format, and while focusing on Iray, I am including basic 3D mats.)
I think it may have changed in the almost 24 hours between my spotting it and your observation.
