Question about the UH2 fantasy colors

How do you get the fantasy colors to work with the hair mixer? They are two separate products and the fantasy colors don't show up in the mixer utility... Thanks.

I have to search for "colors" in the search bar to make it show up i think.

What search bar? I just run the thing and all the natural colors show up, but can't find a way to add colors that are in a completely different folder.

If you installed it using Connect, UHT and the add-on will be in different folders and the script won't find it. I ended up copying the fantasy colors on the UHT folders and it works well enough. Still, it would be nice if Daz did something about this issue--it's not exactly new.

Hmm... I didn't realize that was still an issue.  I addressed this with Daz before I released it, as I noticed it happening when I installed it from Connect, and now I can't remember what they did to fix it.  I haven't heard a word about this since it came out, so I really had no idea it was happening.  Unfortunately, I cannot do anything to fix the issue myself, it would have to be worked out with the installers by Daz.  Have you tried submitting a ticket?  I really hate giving that answer, but I truly can't fix it, even if I knew how.

Just a thought (since my memory is slipping)... have you tried installing through DIM?  Connect creates separate folders for everything, whereas DIM installs to the folders I created, using the correct structure.  Maybe that is how it was solved last year.  Again, unless I can talk to Daz about it, I can't really say how to get them into the correct locations to show up in the mixer.  The way DraagonStorm and I wrote it, they all install to the same place.

Unfortunately I'm still really screwed up with my laptop. I first started installing with DIM on an external hard drive, but for some reason Windows keeps kicking the drive off and then saying it needs to be repaired. So I started installing through Connect thinking it leaves a smaller footprint but now it just has a big white caution sign on the the things I installed through DIM and won't let me reinstall it through Connect... I haven't tested it on my Mac yet where I use all DIM. But this stupid Windows laptop is driving me crazy and takes forever to render. I really wish I could affor a new PC with NVIDIA that doesn't keep auto-ejecting my external hard drive....

If this is to be a fix you need to uninstall the Connect version - otherwise DS will use the Connect version even if the DIM version is present.

ah yes, thanks Richard.  You are absolutely right.  And I find the same to be true the other way around... only install one version, whichever you choose, and uninstall the other version.

How do I uninstall the Connect version? But I want to use the Connect version because my stupid PC keeps ejecting my external hard drive... I REALLY hope DS 5 has a way to render through the cloud using a Mac. I can't tell you how much I hate Windows....

To uninstall the Connect version, go to the Products view in the Smart Content Tab and right click on the product icon.  The option to uninstall will be there.  For DIM, you can set the install directory to anywhere you want it to install, then just make sure Daz Studio has that directory set up in Content Library as well.

Well original I was installing everything through DIM, but as I said, it keeps ejecting my external hard drive where the Daz Library is. Then when I unplug it and plug it back in, it says it has to fix it and that takes about an hour... So basically there's no way to get the two products to work together through Connect? Can I find the colored jpgs somewhere and drop them into a folder that will show up in the hair mixer?

hi, re the external drive issues, sounds like either a port or cable issue. try a different USB cable, if you have one that is similar

I'm using the one that came with the hard drive and it's new, I'm pretty sure the problem is the laptop. It's just so unpredictable. I only use it for Daz, and FaceGen, everything else on my Mac including DS, but I think it's actually slower than my Mac because I have a lot more RAM on my Mac, but both are CPU only. I'll test the hair on my Mac tomorrow' which is all DIM and stable. Sorry to go on a small rant, but I just don't get how people like Windows, it's so glitchy and unpredictable. Ugh...
