OT: Is "SlenderMan" owned by anyone?

I know there are a number of poser products in "his" likeness, but I was curious if he's actually anyone's IP?

    Wow. I had thought he was public domain, but turns out his original creator has maintained copyrights...

    No, it is essentially a gestalt fictional character (though components of it do have some similarity to a number of actual legends, which could have been inspiration or are just pure coincidence).

    We didn't have a name for 'Slenderman' as kids and he always is a changeling of sort but I can tell you he's nothing new. We called him the man with the electric eyes and he wore a black cape and black tophat when we saw him looking in the window. It was more likely a cat though, Others call him boogie man and other such names. Represents generic evil more or less.

    I did too... thing is, i cant find any info on what the original design/likeness is.
